I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Doing Beverly Hills Cop 4 is a stupid idea. The movies got progressively worse as the series went on and made less and less money. TAKE THE HINT!!!! PEOPLE LOST INTEREST! And as for Eddie Murphy (let’s set aside how much of a Jerk I think he is for the moment), this is a bad career move. He’s just coming off of an Oscar Nomination… it’s an amazing opportunity to jump on something fresh… or to get back to his harder comedy stylings… not a time to fall back on a franchise that ran it’s course and was run into the ground over 10 years ago. MOVE ON!
But, even if you HAD to do a Beverly Hills Cop 4… you’ve got to at least get Judge Reinhold back right? Right? RIGHT?!?!?!

Unfortunately, di Bonaventura isn’t keen to bring back Axel Foley’s Beverly Hills cohorts, Judge Reinhold and John Ashton. “[That’s] not for me. If it was just my vote I think I would take Axel and just move him”. The producer also says you can expect a ‘different’ type of Foley this time around – because he’s no longer the “a guy who is really cocky at age 25”. The character would now be in his forties. “You have to figure out how Axel would evolve over 20 years, so it’s an interesting challenge”. Sorry, back up… did you say no Judge Reinhold? Isn’t this a “Beverly Hills Cop” movie?
This just seems to be compounding mistake upon mistake.
As long as we don’t get a Golden Child 2….it’s all good.
As bad an idea as it sounds, murphy is looking for a role where he is able to be the “bad ass action man” he used to be. he has done little more than poor childrens movies and not so funny action movies. He has lost the edge he had in the 80s as the baddest guy on the big screen. The success of the initially BHC was due to the juxtaposition of a rough detroit inner city cop and the clean cut Beverly hills cops. I can’t say i am thilled to see a BHC4 but i see why he is doing it. All other incarnations he has attempted in this genra have failed miserably. Audiences don’t even buy him as a cop anymore. He wants a character who is recognizable and will guarantee him some credibilty (though granted there will not be much) as a “hard man”. With a new supporting cast, it may give the writers a chance to do something “fresh” with the “old” Foley….maybe he is the clean cut one and he needs to take on a new wise ass cop…color of money style.
I love the idea of a Beverly Hills Cop 4 movie!! To see Axl again would be great!! I think all you haters of the this idea of a Beverly Hills Cop 4 should Just go away! As for you Jon Campea..you suck!! I used to think you knew what you were talking about!! Not anymore!! You seem to hate everything and every idea that comes your way!! As for everyone who loves Beverly Hills Cop 4 idea lets show them that Axl is needed and loved!!
Personally I think this sequal is an excellent idea, and will draw in the crowds – I believe it will appeal to a huge audiance.
yes I agree the latter additions of BHC were poor, but that dosent mean this long down the line that a 4th is automatically going to stink, infact I believe it will mean the complete oposite.
