More Massive Spider-Man 3 Spoilers

The Spider-Man 3 spoilers are coming fast and heavy these days. Today, our friends over at MoviesOnline.ca put up some HUGE ones. I’m putting the questions in black text so you can read it, and the answers will be invisible unless you highlight it. So be warned… there are SPOILERS ahead.

Who lives, who dies?

Well, there’s a lot of misinformation about this, even close to the production, but I can now confirm that Sandman, Aunt May, Mary Jane and Gwen all live, while Eddie Brock and Harry die. The symbiote survives too, an alien parasite all alone, left looking for a new host. Surely this leaves the Spider-Man team cornered? Surely this means Carnage must appear in a future film?

When does Venom first rear his ugly head?

The symbiote is hanging around Central Park, but as for Venom, the recognisbale alien face with all the scary, jagged teeth? Believe it or not, Venom first rears his ugly head when Peter and his Russian landlord get into an argument about rent. That poor Russian guy.

Why does Harry have a change of heart?

Well, at first, he certainly doesn’t have a change of heart. Very early on, he has a big fight with Peter – much detailed previously on film ick – and Peter takes a few good knocks before putting Harry down. When Harry comes around, he doesn’t have much memory of what has been going on, or of his bitter history with Peter. It all starts coming back to him later, however, when Mary Jane and Peter have a black suit-fuelled tiff and she comes running to Harry for comfort. Harry now hits upon the idea of exploiting his Green Goblin alter ego to approach Mary Jane and manipulate her.

It’s Spider-Man’s actions in the final battle, risking his life to save Gwen and Mary Jane, that seem to bring Harry round. He gets in the way of one of Venom’s attacks to save Peter, and this ends up being the ultimate sacrifice.

Since I’m not wanting to give anything away I won’t comment too much… all I’ll say is take it with a grain of salt, and that if this is all true, I’m pretty disappointed with one of the tips… if you read the spoilers you’ll know which one I’m talking about.

  1. I believe the Spider-Man movies, as a story is about the progression of one character, PETER PARKER. When they put other characters in the Spider-man movies, no matter how incredibly popular they are, i.e., Venom and Doc Ock, they are to bring about character changes in Peter. If Raimi and Maguire do no more Spider-Man movies, I will look at this trilogy as one complete story. He has already had difficulties dealing with his own guilt, then difficutlies with dual identity, a strong thread of love rivalry and finally he will be hit with his own control of power, dealing the the touchstone theme of the whole movie, series, With Great Power….

I do not believe that this is the last Spider-Man movie. I hope he lays low for a few years, coming back when the right people are in place to take over and give it a new depth or twist.

  2. i believe they’ve got the right team and that this 3rd spiderman movie will rock quite thoroughly. yeah, it sounds like there will be some hallmark card style crap; but it can’t be any worse than the scene in spiderman1 where Mary Jane asks Peter what spiderman said about her while the Aunt is pretending to be asleep in the background. but i still think spiderman1 rocked. but spiderman2 was exponentially better…

  3. The fact they kill eddie in the first movie they introduce him in, is pure stupidty. They dont’ even have eddie brock, it’s eddie brock JUNIOR, which is why they cast skinny little eric foreman, instead of a hulking linebacker of a man.

And if they DO bond it to the scorpian (which does happen in the comic books) they are jumping like 5 years at least in the comic book world, not to mention skipping (in the comic book sense) carnage all together. PLUS they haven’t even introduced scorpian yet.

So heres spider man 4!! They introduce Scorpion in his suit.. for 5minutes… fights spidermans for 7 minutes. loses, somehow gets his suit offin around 4 minutes. (cut halfway through the movie after Spider man does stupid lovey dovey crap with MJ for no reason) Scorpion finds the suit, and it bonds with him for a total of 7 minutes. BUT WAIT!!! that venom didn’t hate spider man.. and went and joined a team of super-villains that no one really cares about called the “Thunderbolts”

*sigh* Good lord, I hate this franchise now

If anything can save it, (even though Raimi has admitted to hating venom, and probablythe symbiotes as a whole) would be to remake the Maximum Carnage series into spiderman 4 and probably 5.

  4. Well, supposedly (no source to confirm this) they filmed different endings. So this might be the end of Eddie, it might not be. It certainly wont be the end of the symbiote saga. If they kill of Eddie, even though i know this sucks, its ok at least, if the symboite survives. This will mean that there is a high possibility of it bonding with som1 else, and, even better, creating Carange. If it does either one, ill be satisfied. Sure, Venom deserves his own movie, but i think this movie shows a lot of the symbiote, and it will show a big ass battle royale with Venom at the end, so Venom will get his pwnage time, even if its only 10-15 minutes. We will be dissapointed if he dies, of course, but hey at least he had his movie (Raimi was hesitant, at first, to even include him in the film franchise).

  5. mm… i knew they were going to this, raimi and his writing team will do it again as in spiderman 1 and 2 :S I just can’t understand why the hack, if spiderman has a really big universe with a lot of characters and interesting story arcs, why the f*ck they keep wasting time and tell stupid stories and they always bring these “arc” involving mary jane , peter and harry, i’m sick of that story, they used it in spiderman 1, and again in spiderman 2 (that was their “cliffhanger” you see; with harry discovering the goblin suit) and again harry takes a major role in this third movie, why!?!?!? i mean just take venom for example, they can make not only 1 but 2 films with the venom saga, and that little subplot of sandman and her lost daughter blah blah, that’s a good idea, great for a spiderman film and actually they will put in this movie, but they will give it very few attention compared to, yes, the story arc raimi loves… the love triangle between harry, peter and mj.

time is running and by now they have wasted 3 films using this plot, it took a big part in S1, and in S2 again harry was the driving force behind ock, what a waste of time with it, and the problem is that the amount of untold stories from the comics is huge, and it was ok to use it for 1 film maybe 2, but 3!! and now they will kill eddie before he gets to S4, and sandman lives, and what? that’s it for venom??!? :S they gave harry 3 freakin films, Does his story deserves more screen time than the venom saga, was it more important or interesting for us to see the rich spoiled harry take it against peter?? mmm i don’t think so.

  7. not trying to be a stickler but isn’t the heading “why does harry have a change of heart” a spoiler in itself??

I totally agree with jason….they are cramming a lot of stuff into this one film…they are cramming things in which would make a great film by itself ..can they really pack all this into one film without rushing it?

  8. There’s one thing in there that would just not make sense..
    the spoiler regarding Eddie Brock.

I think with the introduction of WAY too many characters/character personality changes, they would need a whole movie dedicated to the symbiote/Eddie Brock/Venom story line. I am a Spiderman fan, and I hope they haven’t done what the Batman franchise did… and that’s jam a movie with so many characters that it takes away from every character…
    Sandman
    Peter’s change (suit/ personality)
    Harry’s change
    Gwen
    Eddie
    Venom
and of course MJ and Aunt May
how can possibly sum all of this up in approx 120 minutes… I think it will be visually appealing, but lack the substance that some of these new characters need… i.e Venom and Sandman

fingers crossed (hoping Venom will be awesome)

    Jay
