Indiana Jones 4 Official Lucasfilm Press Release

Older-Indy.jpgHere it is, the official Lucasfilm press release about the filming of Indiana Jones 4. Take it for what it’s worth. I’ll still believe it when I see it.

In a long-awaited announcement, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg revealed today that the fourth installment of Indiana Jones will begin production in June 2007. Harrison Ford returns in his role as the daring Dr. Jones for the new adventure. The film will be produced by Lucasfilm Ltd., directed by Steven Spielberg and released by Paramount Pictures throughout the world in May 2008.

The screenplay has been written by David Koepp.

Spielberg states “George, Harrison and I are all very excited. We feel that the script was well worth the wait. We hope it delivers everything you’d expect from our history with Indiana Jones.”

The film will be produced by Frank Marshall with George Lucas and Kathy Kennedy as executive producers. “Working with Steven, Frank, Kathy and the Indy crew is like working with family,” states Lucas. “These films are such great fun to make. I’m looking forward to reuniting with the team and starting this new journey.”

The film has plenty of action in store for the rogue archeologist. Harrison Ford comments ” I’m delighted to be back in business with my old friends. I don’t know if the pants still fit but I know the hat will. ”

It will be shot on undisclosed locations around the world as well as in the United States.

For more than 25 years, audiences have been enraptured by the exploits of Indiana Jones. The film trilogy — Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade –garnered 14 Academy Award nominations, won 7 Oscars, and grossed over $1,182,000,000 at the box office. The films are among the most popular films ever made and have become a legendary part of film history.

Like i said before… I’m DYING to see this movie… I just can’t allow myself to believe it will happen. Thanks to Larry for the link.

  1. I think it’s great! Wished it was sooner and Sean was part of it. There’s not much to look forward to in the movies lately. No Star Treks either. Looking forward to this one.

  2. Ummm Max,

Do a little research before saying stuff like that. I’ve been cheering on the idea of Indy 4 for YEARS. I’ve been cheering it on when everyone else was saying it was a stupid idea. I’ve put up no less than 15 posts about Indy 4 in 3.5 years all excited about it.

It wasn’t until earlier this year that I got sick and tired of being lied to (as a fan) about how “close” it was… and that they were “ready to go”. I just decided to stop listening to them and stopped believing it would ever happen. I still don’t believe them. I hope I’m wrong… I’ve ALWAYS hoped I was wrong with this… but I still don’t believe them.

    Get your facts straight.

  3. haha looks like John’s getting nervous. First it was ‘it will NEVER HAPPEN, shut up about it’. to ‘I mean guys, I want it to happen, but I just don’t think it will’. come mid-2007 it will be ‘ok, it is happening, but I never said it wouldn’t!!’. just wait.

  4. May 2008?! That’s awfully soon, isn’t it? Maybe I’m just used to the three years it takes to make an effects heavy Star Wars flick, but it just seems like an awfully short time frame for a film this big… ?

  5. Genger: it is indeed a promo still from his “special” guest stint on Young Indy Chronicles. While under makeup, I think that Ford’s Indy might look like something like that.

**Lucas & co: please keep the beard**

  6. This is a lousy announcement.. it gives us barely any new information. All it is says is when production begins, and that they think their script is good..as if they would show any doubt in a press release, because you know they actually want us to pay for the money thats taking too much time to get off the page. I was hoping for at least a small snopsys.

  7. I said I believed it and I’m glad to have been right. The hole I live in nes only reaches me when someone makes a determined and aggressive effort to get it out. So this one was a no-brainer. Indy’s comin’ back -again. Believe it!

  8. Hey, maybe there’s still time to ween Ford off of the valium.

I think the quality of this series went down with each consequtive episode. I’ve only seen the 3rd one twice (with a gap of 15 years between viewings, and I watched it again only because I need to remind myself how bad it was).

On a related note, did anyone catch the Rifftrax of Firewall? Hilarious.

  9. Im starting to believe, because for the past however many years that there have been “rumblings” about it, its never gone officially public directly from Lucas and Spielberg and Ford like this. I think it would take something truly unexpected to derail the project at this point.

  10. John, you BASTARD! Just believe it!

There has never been a finished script. There has never been an official start date! There has never been an official press release on it!

It’s time to let down your guard and believe!
