National Treasure 2 starts filming in January

I actually enjoyed National Treasure. I still cling to the hope that Nic Cage will make his comeback after these last few flops, but it was his personality in National Treasure that made the movie pretty fun. We already heard news that there might be a sequel, and it looks like a lot of people are clinging to the ball they got rolling.

Cinematical says:

Today comes word from mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer that A) NT2 would begin shooting in January, and B) the plot has a lot to do with Abe Lincoln, John Wilkes Booth and the 18 pages that are missing from the beloved President’s personal diary. Beyond that, we don’t know a whole lot.

Early word does indicate that pretty much the entire cast is returning for the sequel, which is generally a good thing. Especially if your cast includes the likes of Harvey Keitel, Jon Voight, and (mmmmm) Diane Kruger.

I second the “mmmmmm” on Diane Kruger (ok, I improvised an extra m there.. sue me) and its always a good thing to bring about all the original cast. Except maybe with JarJar.

National Treasure has a lot of things going for it. As the title would imply, their Indiana Jones antics revolve around beloved artifacts of American History. Americans love anything that pays tribute to their history and their national pride. Who wouldnt?

It has Nic Cage! I know Wickerman was a stinker, and people are hating on him for being in Ghost Rider, but really this guy once listed as my fav actor, and could do no wrong. Ok, so he isnt perfect, but I still like him.

And just as Hollywood is known for, these missing pages of Abe Lincoln’s Diary are likely to shine some insight on the stern president’s life that will change history.

I for one, am looking forward to this sequel.

  1. I loved the first National Treasure and I am truely looking forward to the sequel that comes out in December 2007

I think the second one will be awesome and I can’t wait to see it.

National Treasure has been my favorite movie for years and maybe National TReasure 2 will become my new favorite.

CAN’T WAIT FOR NATIONAL TREASURE 2

  2. I liked wicker-man, ok not he greats of films but it was dark and man didhe get the sjhit beat out of him. anyway, looking forward to GR, later ..

    JARROD-D
    HORNS UP!
    SACRAMENT TATTOO FLASH & CLOTHING

  3. Yeah, I’ve seen Face Off. I like it. I’m a big John Woo fan. I didn’t hate Cage it it, but he fell completely under the shadow of John Travolta in that film.

I don’t think he’s a bad actor, but I just can’t imagine him being someone’s favorite. HUGE and BADASS in Con Air and Gone in 60 Seconds? I want to laugh when I hear that.

Interestingly enough, the stuff I find him best at are his more quirky, not-trying-to-be-a-badass roles like Adaptation and Matchstick Men (loved him in that).

Obviously you see something in him that I don’t. Fair enough.

  4. Maybe I read your post wrong, but did you say he needs a comeback after his last few flops?

    World Trade Center didn’t flop.

And Lord of War and the Weather Man, his two before that, are two of the BEST films he’s ever done.

  5. Im a sucker for the likeable nice guy. What can I say.

His role in FaceOff was awesome (as was Travolta) And have you seen how HUGE and BADASS he can be in Kiss of Death? ConAir, Gone in 60 Seconds, Leaving LasVegas, Honeymoon in Vegas, Rumblefish, Valleygirl?

Sure he has some stinkers, but overall I really like seeing him in a lot of his movies.
