This was a list that caught my attention and thought would be a funny brainless read. The guys over at IGN posted up a top 10 list of professional Wrestlers who also took on acting as a career. I agree with pretty much the whole list… except I would have put Piper at #2 (a bit higher than they have him.
So here is the list:
#10 Triple H (I’d also have put him a bit higher… but not too much)
#9 Goldberg
#8 Kevin Nash
#7 Kane (nope… wouldn’t have put him on the list at all, and certainly not above HHH)
#6 Hulk Hogan
#5 Rowdy Roddy Piper
#4 Jesse Ventura (I’d have put him at #3)
#3 Tor Johnson
#2 Andre the Giant
#1 The Rock (who knew that this guy would actually develop to the point that he can really ACT.)

I would have left Kane off the list too and I’m not surprised by The Rock at #1. However, I’m expecting to see some of the females make it up there. You just KNOW Trish Stratus is destined for superstardom. Maybe as a porn star? Would that count?
HHH was in Blade Trinity. For five minutes.
And The Rock is tops for me. Just wish he’d get a good role in a good movie. Gridiron Gang and The Rundown are good, but he’s better than the material he’s been getting.

Tor Johnson wasn’t number 1? Robbed, I say. He made Plan 9 From Outer Space the film it was.
Rock is definately deserves the #1 on this list. His movies may not have been that great but his performances in them have been very good.
How did Bret “The Hitman” Hart not make it onto this list? Wasn’t he on that series Lonesome Dove for a while? And lets not forget that he’s currently playing ‘Genie” in an Aladdin production.

I’m amazed they could even come up with ten. I think my list would be the Top One of wrestlers turned actors. Still hanging in at Number 1 (on the Hot 1): Rowdy Roddy Piper, star of They Live and Hell Comes To Frogtown.
Also, as talented as The Rock is, it’s a shame he’s yet to find a worthwhile film to be in. One stinker after another…
Coming up with a top 10 is really difficult. There really shouldn’t be a top 10. Let’s take Triple H. Other than ‘Blade Trinity’, what’s he been in? You might as well have put Tyler Mane (X-Men) up there. Kevin Nash played the Russian in ‘Punisher’. If Kane is up there for See No Evil (!) where’s the recent Jon Sena?
The list isn’t even that subjective; it’s just how you rank the top five. Dwyane Rock Johnson is tops without a doubt because he was really good in his previous film, Gridiron Gang, but also because Rundown was really enjoyable as well.
Andre is the best known for taking part in The Princess Bride as well as a few comedies. But for his role in Bride…it was the best casting that even made use of his accent.
I’d put Roddy at #3, Jesse at #4.
