Road To Guantanamo Trailer

Road-To-GuantanamoThe new Road To Guantanamo trailer is up and on the web. I’ll resist the temptation to make any political commentary and just say that if the purpose of a trailer is indeed to get you interested in seeing the film… then this trailer might be one of the best ever made, because I’m dying to see this film.

“The terrifying first-hand account of three British citizens who were held for two years without charges in the American military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Known as the “Tipton Three,” in reference to their home town in Britain, the three were eventually returned to Britain and released, still having had no formal charges ever made against them at any time during their ordeal.”

  1. I missed this when it was on TV (although I planned to watch it)

I’ll definitely catch the DVD release.

and Bob, I think the point the film is making is that they weren’t being held under criminal charges and they weren’t being held as POWs, since that would mean they were protected by the geneva convention, which was apparently ignored.

  2. I’m curious why the phrase “held without charges” keeps popping up when discussing prisoners at Guantanamo.

” held for two years without charges”

“the three were eventually returned to Britain and released, still having had no formal charges ever made against them at any time during their ordeal.”

Being “held without charges” is a no-no for police when dealing with criminals in a law enforcement situation. But prisoners captured by the military during a war don’t have to be “charged” with anything to be held.

  3. Looks like the same old. Extremist view of a thing.

We have Bush and Rumsfeld representing one extreme wing of the argument, and a movie like this which claims to shed light, but only represents the other extreme wing of the argument. Looks uninteresting and unintelligent to me.

I am glad those muslims cashed in on it though. Yeah, I am sure the world is not a nice place.

  4. This is actually a British made-for-TV movie which was shown here in the UK a few months ago now.

I caught it when it was on and it really is fantastic – definetely deserves the wide theatrical release it seems to be getting Stateside…

  5. Wow, I NEED to see that film! Talk about awesome. I’ve always thought it was all kinds of screwed up that we have what is in essence a concentration camp RUN by the US government. Hopefully this movie will outrage some people into action.

Im definetly adding this to my must see list. Thanks for posting this.
