The Mutant Chronicles

The Mutant ChroniclesThomas Jane (the dude from The Punisher… a movie that I actually liked despite the fact that most other people didn’t) has signed on for the lead role in a Role Playing Game to Film adaptation of “The Mutant Chronicles“.

Wow… if Dungeons and Dragons was any indication of how bad a Role Playing Game movie can be, then I’m not holding out a lot of hope for this idea. But at the same time, the synopsis sounds like it could hold some brainless fun. The good folks over at Cinema Confidential give us this:

Based on Paradox Entertainment’s popular game, Jane will play Major Mitch Hunter, a 23rd century soldier who leads humans in a fight against “a demonic, marauding army of underworld NecroMutants.”

HaHa! like I said… sounds really stupid but it could be fun. I’ll give Thomas Jane a shot in this role for sure. I just hope he gets around to Punisher 2.

  1. boys and girls, don’t worry. the film will be nothing like Doom or D&D it’s a lot darker and the design of it will blow you away. P.S. teaser trailer is coming out soon but bear in mind that it was done on a very small budget √Ǭ£30,000 so as to get funding for the main feature. Enjoy the GORE!!!!!!!!

  2. I like Thomas Jane as well, hope the movie is at least fair.

    D&D did suck, but did oyu happen to catch “Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God” ? It was a made for TV special and it was loads better then the movie version. I wrote a review on it on my blog:

    http://emyln.blogspot.com/2005/10/dungeons-dragons-2.html

    Here’s the basic snippet:

    Inconsistent with D&D:

    * White Dragons can be killed by a Lighting Bolt, a vial of purple worm acid and a sword thru its tail

    * Minor fire elementals can be defeated with a spout of water

    * Casting spells can be done 1 handed (technically this is possible with feats)

    Cute things :

    * My personal Fave: Elect a leader and say lead the way, we trust you.

    * When you see a lich… RUN!!! (This one I happen to agree with)

    * Evey thief should have a Gem of True Seeing

    * The female mage and barbarian held off the horde of bandits while the males deciphered the puzzle. Talk about woman’s lib

    * A universal law – Captain of the Guard are idolts.

    * Never send your familiar into a corridor to check for traps

    * Its ok to physically handle an orb that contains the essense of an evil dragon god (All the DM’s I’ve had must be wrong)

    * If you have a Council of mages – make sure they actually attack when a Dragon invades

    * Divine Magic is more powerful than Arcane magic

    D&D Specific Lore they threw into the Film:

    * The Fiend Jubelex is mentioned

    * Ring of the Ram

    * Gem of True Seeing

    * Purple Worm Acid

    * Teleport only works if you’ve been to a location

    * Always go single file in dungeons

    * Spells need components
