Michael Keaton as the Joker?

Keaton_Desperate.jpgThere’s some perverseness in wanting the old Batman to be up against the new Batman, I mean okay the new one might beat him in a fist fight, but the old one was more unhinged, unpredictable, and intelligent. He’d find a way to kill him. Anyway, that’s not the point of the story. It looks like Michael Keaton has two roles to consider according to Dark Horizons through Comic Book Movie:

Keaton is now in the running to be Joker. How weird would that be seeing the two best Batman’s fight each other on the big screen. Also in the running now supposedly is Ryan Reynolds. The big question though, is if Michael takes the job as Joker what will that do for him supposedly playing Jigsaw in the new Punisher movie.

Eh, did I just miss that one? Reynolds as the Joker? Oh give me a break…

  1. Oh hell – let’s just add Jason Lee to the list!

    I don’t mean that as a slam – I adore Jason Lee.

I adore Ryan Renyolds, but no, I don’t want to see him as the Joker.

I adore Michael Keaton, but I definitely don’t want to see him as the Joker.

The idea of Keaton is a twisted novelty, which would only cheapen the next Batman flick. I still think this whole story is something thought up at 3am and many drinks in.

  2. Andy Dick is hilarious, and can be really creepy, but I don’t think he could act pre Joker form (before hes dropped into the vat) he just wouldn’t fit.

  3. i guess ryan renolds COULD play the joker, but i really don’t see it. haven’t seen amityville, but he seems best suited to play comedic roles with some drama in them, or light drama. then again, he does turn psycho in amityville, doesn’t he? so maybe he could pull it off. but if nolan is going for a less comedic role for the joker, then surely renolds, who is known as a comedic actor, would not be the best choice, just for audience’s mindsets, since they would come out dissapointed.

  4. Oops…I see it now. Never mind, we can restart the conversation!

Yeah but Reynolds just doesn’t fit with my idea of the Joker, or any view of the joker for that matter. I would love Keaton for the role though, that face, that psychotic character…superb.

  5. Actually, Ryan Reynolds and Michael Keaton make sense for the joker that Bale would have to face in the Nolan universe. The joker that he seems to be going for is the Killing Joke version of the Joker, and not the comedic joker that was portrayed by Jack Nicholson.

Keaton would be wise to accept the batman role and pass on the other movie.

As for Ryan Reynolds, go watch the remake of the Amytiville horror, and with a white face on him and some green hair, trust me – he could play a twisted, psychotic killer any day of the week.
