Over at Comic Book Movie annoying “registry needs cleaned” pop-ups abound, but there’s also an interesting few comments from Wesley Snipes who talked with a Journalist while over in Nigeria.
“Wow. ‘The Black Panther’ means a lot of things, but what my friend over there is talking about is a presently unannounced project of mine based on a ’60s Marvel comicbook of the same name,” said Snipes. “I’ve always been attracted to the story because the protagonist is a strong African figure, a monarch who is very intelligent and powerful, who uses his gifts to protect his people from external forces. In it, Africans are it.”
Snipes continued “And as for me doing research here in Nigeria, no: that’s not what I’m here for. But now that you’ve mentioned it, it sounds like a great idea. I’d absolutely love to do ‘Black Panther’ in Nigeria.”
That would be fantastic if they really did film some of the movie in Africa, and frankly I hadn’t realised that Snipes was involved, and that’s even better. Snipes as Black Panther, filming in Africa, superb. I wasn’t thinking much about this project, but that little statement has just perked up my ears!

Actually I agree Snipes should try something different. The first names that pop into my head for Back Panther are Taye Diggs and Djimon Honsou, the latter actually being african would help.
Yeah; -insert sarcasim here- Snipes playing another Marvel hero. I know this
is no surprise, but after Blade: Trinity I have lost
the longing to see Snipes in a major action role. There is a stable of
talent out there which could take on this project and make it much more
entertaining in my mind.
Anybody really; how about Booker T from the WWE, I’m
sure the Black Panther would say “Suck’a” allot anyway. Or how about Carl Weathers, Action Jackson could pull
that shit off right? Mos
Def, DMX, Ving Rhames -well actually he
should be Panthro-, or even Marlon Wayans would be
better.
Why does every black action role have to go to Wesley Snipes? He had his run
with the Blade Trilogy, so lets give someone else a part – actually
something different. Snipes will ruin this, another Catwoman in the making.
Can you think of any other actors out there that you would rather see as an
action hero or are you pumped for Snipes?
