Not that much I’m afraid. Comic Book Movie has the slightly disappointing news from Mike Mignola that the movie hasn’t really gone anywhere.
“The sequel is not happening yet,” Mignola said during his panel at Wizard World Philadelphia on Sunday. “Guillermo (del Toro, writer/director) and I sat down six months ago and came up with an original story for the sequel. And he’s been off trying to make a film Spain that’s been delayed…
…he’s written the screenplay. He’s almost finished with it, and he hasn’t turned it into the studio. Once he turns it into the studio, then we start talking about the budget, and then we’ll know.
“We might know by the end of the year if it’s going to happen. Hopefully, it’s going to happen, but it’s going to come down to the budget.”
So we’re miles away from anything being approved by the studio. I was hoping things were much further ahead, still it’s worth waiting for.
I have to admit when I went into Hellboy I thought it would suck really bad (I only went because my friends dragged me there), but I was pleasently suprised. Obviously not in the league of Spider-Man 2 but still very good. I’ll be there on the premiere for Hellboy 2.
