Daniel Craig is today’s next Bond

DanielCraig.jpgLook, I’m really sorry, I know many of you out there are sick fed up of the Bond rumours and I have to agree with you, it’s a complete fiasco. However, this one seems quite strong, and I pray to God it’s the last one before the Studio get their bums into gear and announce.

The Guardian reporting from the UK newspaper The Sun, says there is a Bond other than Brosnan. Oh lord save us. Like you’ve never heard this before, but it’s already been decided. Daniel Craig, he of Layer Cake, Tomb Raider, and the upcoming Spielberg Munich Olympics movie.

According to the Sun, Craig, 37, has been offered a three-film deal by producer Barbara Broccoli – a commitment which could mean his spending the next 10 years in the role, a chore said to be worth a cool √Ǭ£15m…

…The race to find the sixth Bond started about 18 months ago when producers Broccoli and Michael Wilson told incumbent Brosnan that he was too old to continue. The Sun reports that the choice had come down to Craig and Clive Owen. However, Owen had told casting agents he did not want the job as he feared it might limit his career.

Meanwhile, the BBC have everything still unconfirmed and the studio tightlipped.

A spokesperson for production company Eon said: “We’re waiting for our director to finish the film he’s currently working on.

“Then I’m sure we’ll be commenting a lot on all sorts of things.”…

…A spokesperson for Craig also declined to comment.

Please let it be over. Mustering the energy to continue though, Craig does suit the role quite well. Age, build, looks, accent, etc. Really though, I find it hard to care.

  1. He is not SEXY at all. Jonathan Rhys Meyers as BOND. He is the guys who played Elvis Presley and is a british actor. The new BOnd is to be young and like 28. Not to mention sexy if that guy is the now Bon it will be another bond I dont see. lol jonathan rhys meyers rocks

  2. It’s between two people. One of them you’ve heard of, but I am inhibited from saying his name. The other is a previously unknown actor called Doug Nolan. You’ll perhaps hear more soon.

  3. Adrian Paul has my vote. He was in the running last time but came in second to Pierce Brosnan. I remember seeing it on Entertainment Tonight at the time.

I like Pierce Brosnan a lot and had high hopes for the new Bond but could never quite get into his Bond movies. They seemed to be more about big plots and big explosions than about a Bond story.

Click on my name for an Adrian Paul Collage.

  4. My take on this is that Craig (who appeared in the first Tomb Raider film) may have been approached, like a few others, to have been offered a role in ‘Casino Royale’- just not as Bond.

As to why Clive Owen passed, I’m a little surprised. He can handle Bond, since until recently he was best known for the BMW commercials. But if “Closer” and “Sin City” didn’t happen, he might have sang a different tune. I thought he was great in “King Arthur” by the way.

Pierce Brosnan? Yeah, one more go around would be fine, because as talented an actor he may be, I’d much rather see him reprise Bond one more time than play another thief. I also wouldn’t mind if he commited to a “Detonator III”…I kind of liked those made for cable action films.

But if Brocoli’s were really shopping for a new Bond, I hope they have the courage, the wisdom and the insight to cast fmr Highlander Adrian Paul.

  5. Oh my goodness if he is the new Bond sign me up!!!
He may not have the dark hair, but that is what dye is for….as for sexy, he’s there baby! whew. ;) I was drooling when it came to Tomb Raider.

  6. Oh man Rich. Let it be over eh? LOL

If this still isnt the last news on Bond, (good grief!) it will still be fine by me, and if it is indeed true that my Daniel Craig got the role, then OH MY GOD!!! *dances in jubilation*
