Another sci-fi movie for Alex Proyas

AlexProyas.jpgAlex Proyas has produced some excellent work, and in particular the wonderful Dark City, that is a fantastic movie. His next project promises to be just as interesting.

Knowing is the story of a man who unearths a 1950s time capsule with children’s drawings predicting the future. One set of drawings depicts horrible events that already have come true, but one of the events has not occurred, and the man sets out to prevent it from happening.

The blurb is courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter through Coming Soon. It does sound like an interesting subject for a movie and with his treatment it could be a dark and turbulent film.

  1. Richard Kelly was attached…and did a re-write of the original script by Ryne Pearson. But then it got delayed, they tried to get John Cusack or Ed Norton for the lead and couldn’t, and then it got super-messy, with lawyers getting involved.

This movie is one of the main reasons why we haven’t seen a follow-up movie from Richard Kelly yet. B/c he’s been stuck dealing with this one.

Hope the Knowing curse doesn’t strike Proyas too.

  2. Wasn’t Richard Kelly – of Donnie Darko – attached to this project for the longest time? I guess he didn’t have enough pull among the Hollywood suits to convince them he can carry it. I like Alex Proyas but I think he’s more of a technically-refined director than anything else. Richard could’ve added an emotional core to it.
