A History of Star Wars Video Games

PodRacer.jpgMy Star Wars geekdom is well documented here on The Movie Blog. So my interest in this article on UGO should come as no surprise to anyone:

December 2004 saw the latest release in a long line of Star Wars related video games. As a sequel to one of 2003’s top role playing games, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords has made a lot of Xbox owners and RPG fans very happy. In honor of KOTOR II’s release and in anticipation of May’s Revenge of the Sith movie event, we take a look at the long history of interactive Star Wars entertainment, complete with all of its highs and lows.

This is a really fun article. It breaks the games down into The Golden Age (1980-1990), The Silver Age (1991-1996), The Gaming Renaissance? (1996 – 2000), and the Modern Age (2001-today). Go give it a read and enjoy the nostalgia.

  1. This will be one of my future indulgences once I have moved to my new place, a Star Wars shrine which includes paraphernalia from the movies and to make it even more real and appealing to my male guests, why not indulge on some Star Wars video games. I’m sure that will make me more appealing to their tastes. *laughs*

    Thanks for this John! MTFBWYA.
