Thanks for checking out our Forgotten Fridays feature. This is a feature to review some older films that maybe you have forgotten about or maybe never got around to seeing that we just want to share. They may not be old, maybe not forgotten, but they are not new. Just fun to share.
Today’s feature came from a discussion with friends who never saw Caddyshack. I was stunned. This is a film that needs to be seen whether you like it or not!

THE GENERAL IDEA
A millionaire wants to turn a golf course into a new property development, but the president of the golf club doesn’t like the idea. This is the basic ‘plot’ which hides behind the many antics of the employees and players on the golf course.
THE GOOD
The personalities on this film make the movie work so well. Its a classic story of the underdogs and underpriveldged challenging the status quo. Rodney Dangerfield is just awesome as the guy you wont ever see at a classy country club, and Chevy Chase is just gut busting funny in this. Ted Knight is just delicious as the pretentious country club boss.
And of course the lovable Mr Gopher who is the bane of Bill Murray’s existence, and serves as the subplot for the film tying into the climax perfectly. He isn’t crazy about gophers, but he is just plain Crazy.
THE BAD
If you don’t appreciate schlock humour of the early 80s, this will come off as incredibly campy to you. Frankly I love it, and while it is dated, I can understand while others would lack that same appreciation. But that is all I see wrong with this movie.
OVERALL
Great laughs, lovable cast, and a great look at some of film’s greatest comic personalities all in one film. Do yourself a favour and make sure if you grab this in a bargain bin or rent it that you are not getting the sequel. It was terrible.
Since all of these Forgotten Friday reviews are going to be what I would already give a high rating to, I had a Tv, Rent or Buy scale going on, but it would seem that an overwhelming majority of my picks get a BUY rating.
So with every Forgotten Friday you see from now on, you get to rate your anticipation for yourself!
TV – If you are at least a little curious, catch it if it comes on TV.
Rent – If it is something you have heard of and forgotten, or just remember enjoying this as much as I did once upon a time, go rent it.
Buy – But if you are like me, and you agree with my review you should go buy it. If its featured here, I already have.

Loved Caddyshack — I usually never watch movies more than once, but I saw Caddyshack 4 times!
I went back and watched it again, and it just didn’t do the same thing for me like back in the day.

This may be one of the most quotable movies of all times!
Caddyshack is obviously one of the great comedies of all time, so why is it the subject of Forgotten Fridays? No disrespect Rodney, but I look forward to this feature because of your ability to find diamonds in the rough and/or films that smack me in the face for nostalgic reasons as I may not have even thought about the film in a decade.

Yea, Rodney has gone over this umpteen times. I also made the mistake of asking the very same question.
Although it is a very recognizable film to people who grew up in that generation like myself, there is a newer younger generation that may not have seen it all, etc.
I can tell you my 17 year old has never seen this movie.
