Yerin Ha Bridgerton Season 4

Meet Yerin Ha the New Bridgerton Star Who Is Changing the Show

Netflix fans are buzzing about the fresh face that joins the Regency drama in Season 4. Yerin Ha brings a new energy to the series and her casting marks a step forward for representation on screen.

Who Is Yerin Ha?

Yerin Ha is an Australian actress of Korean descent. She has built a solid résumé with roles in genre shows such as HBO’s Dune: Prophecy where she played young Kasha Jinjo, and Paramount+’s Halo as Mia. Viewers may also recognize her from Netflix’s The Survivors, ABC’s Reef Break, and Australian series like Bad Behaviour and Troppo. On the big screen she appears in the Australian film Sissy, and she has stage experience with the Sydney Theatre Company’s production of Lord of the Flies.

How Yerin Ha Lands the Role of Sophie

Showrunner Jess Brownell shared that the casting team reviewed hundreds of audition tapes for the role of Sophie. They were drawn to Ha’s youthful vitality and the depth she brings to every scene. Brownell said the character needed an actor who could show subservience on the surface while hinting at inner strength. Ha’s “old soul” quality fit that description perfectly, making her the ideal match for Luke Thompson’s Benedict Bridgerton.

Changing Sophie’s Background

In Julia Quinn’s novels, Sophie is written as a white character named Beckett. The Bridgerton team wanted to fill a representation gap, so they chose an East Asian actress for the part. After Ha was cast, the producers asked her for input on a new surname that would honor her heritage. They settled on Baek, a name that feels natural and respects her cultural background.

What Sophie Brings to Bridgerton Season 4

Sophie appears in the season‑four premiere during Violet Bridgerton’s masquerade ball. She catches Benedict’s eye, sparking a Cinderella‑like romance that drives the episode’s plot. Her position as a maid adds a fresh “upstairs‑downstairs” dynamic that the series has yet to explore in depth. This new storyline promises to deepen the show’s social commentary while delivering the romance fans love.

Future Appearances

It is not yet confirmed whether Sophie will return in later seasons. However, past supporting leads have often reappeared for at least one more season, so fans can hope to see more of Yerin Ha’s performance.

Season 4 Part 1 of Bridgerton premieres Thursday on Netflix, and Yerin Ha’s debut as Sophie Baek is already generating excitement.
