Netflix has announced the official title of its upcoming Extraction spin off. The eight episode series will be called Mercenary: An Extraction Series. The story follows a lone mercenary who must rescue hostages in Libya. He fights between warring groups and ruthless killers. The logline says the hero faces life or death choices while dealing with deep emotional wounds. The series will explore trauma, betrayal and moral conflict.
Who Stars in Mercenary?
The first look photo shows Omar Sy, known for his role in Lupin, as the lead mercenary. The picture gives fans a clear view of his rugged look and the gritty set. Behind him, a large crew captured the harsh desert backdrop that will appear in the show. Production wrapped in Ireland and has moved to Morocco for final scenes.
Supporting Cast
The show adds a strong supporting cast. Boyd Holbrook, Natalie Dormer, Waleed Zuaiter, Ed Speleers, Sacha Dhawan, Ross McCall, Pip Torrens, Sam Woolf, Michael Zananiri, Riyad Sliman, Muhannad Ben Amor, Aaron Heffernan, Jojo Macari, Theo Ogundipe and Emma Appleton all have roles. The mix of veteran actors and fresh faces promises a dynamic on‑screen chemistry.
Behind the Scenes
Glen Mazzara, who worked on The Walking Dead, writes and executive produces the series. Louise Hooper and Tim Southam each direct four episodes. Executive producers include Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo Otstot, Scott Nemes, Chris Castaldi for AGBO, Sam Hargrave, Eric Gitter and Peter Schwerin. Their combined experience adds credibility to the project.
What Else Is Happening With Extraction?
Netflix is also developing Extraction 3, where Chris Hemsworth will return as Tyler Rake. In addition, a South Korean spin off movie called TYGO is in the works. Don Lee and Lisa of Blackpink will star in that film, marking Lisa’s first major acting role.
