Aaron Pierre Reveals Lanterns Wrap and Teases Green Lantern Drama

Aaron Pierre tells fans that filming on HBO’s Lanterns has officially wrapped. In a recent Esquire profile he describes the shoot as massive and full of heart. He says the crew tackled a grand scale production and that the team hopes the final product makes every viewer proud.

Pierre explains that his character, John Stewart, joins the Green Lantern Corps as a new recruit. He works side by side with veteran Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler, who is nearing retirement. Together they investigate a murder in Nebraska that uncovers darker secrets.

Why John Stewart Resonates

Pierre notes that the Green Lantern Corps are celebrated heroes, yet they own their flaws. He says this makes the characters feel real and relatable. On set the cast often discussed how each Lantern mirrors real people. Pierre adds that watching the show might inspire viewers to imagine applying to the Corps themselves.

Besides Pierre and Chandler, the series features Kelly MacDonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Ulrich Thomsen, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Sherman Augustus, J. Alphonse Nicholson, Jason Ritter, Nathan Fillion, Chris Coy, and Paul Ben‑Victor. The show is developed by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King. It will join James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe on HBO.
