Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 Teaser Takes Mizu to London

Mizu is taking her bloody mission overseas, and Netflix has officially put an expiration date on her quest for revenge. The streamer has released the first teaser trailer for Blue Eye Samurai Season 2, confirming the acclaimed animated series will return in January 2027. There is even more news for fans as the platform has renewed the show for a third and final season, which is already in production for a planned 2028 release.

Season 2 recently wrapped production, and the story is leaving Japan behind for Mizu as she heads to London in pursuit of the men she intends to kill. Meanwhile, several of the show’s major characters will remain in Japan, where a dangerous political situation is developing inside Edo Castle.

Created by married duo Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, the series follows mixed-race Japanese warrior Mizu, voiced by Maya Erskine, on a brutal quest for vengeance against four white men who remained illegally in Japan after the Tokugawa shogunate closed the country’s borders. One of those men is her father.

Mizu Heads to London

Moving the action to London should give the series plenty of fresh material to play with. Mizu will be operating far outside the world she knows, hunting her targets in a city filled with unfamiliar people, dangers, and rules. Noizumi explained that Mizu’s journey remains the same because revenge is her religion. She believes that at least two of the men she is out to kill are going to be somewhere in this magical place called London.

The shift in location offers a compelling narrative evolution. By forcing the protagonist into a completely unfamiliar environment, the creators can test her resolve in new ways while the consequences of the first season continue to unfold in Japan. It is a bold move that keeps the stakes high as the series approaches its conclusion.

A Final Chapter for the Series

Netflix’s official description for Season 2 also reveals what is happening with Mizu’s friends and enemies back home. In the new episodes, Mizu’s bloody quest continues in London, where she faces new friends, old foes, and her own demons. In Japan, Akemi and Taigen navigate Edo Castle under a dangerous new Shogun, while Ringo searches for new purpose. The series will operate on two major fronts, balancing the revenge story with the shifting power structure in Japan.

Knowing that the third season will be the final chapter gives the creative team a defined finish line for Mizu’s story. The first season debuted on Netflix in 2023 and went on to win four Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Animated Program. The combination of striking animation, vicious action, and complicated characters made it one of the streamer’s standout adult animated series. Fans can catch up on the first season on the official Netflix page.

As Mizu takes her quest to London, the stakes have never been higher. With a clear end in sight, the final two seasons promise to deliver a definitive conclusion to one of the most intense revenge stories in modern animation.
