Distributor Several Futures has confirmed the upcoming U.S. theatrical release of Lost Chapters, the debut narrative feature from writer-director Lorena Alvarado. The film is scheduled to open on Friday, July 24, with an exclusive engagement at the IFC Center in New York City.
Following the initial New York run, the film will expand into additional cities. The opening weekend at the IFC Center will include special Q&A sessions with the filmmaker. The project previously held its world premiere at FIDMarseille and its North American premiere as part of the New Directors/New Films festival.

The story follows Ena, who returns to her home in Caracas after living abroad for several years. Upon her arrival, she finds her family in a state of transition, with her grandmother struggling with memory loss and her father dedicated to searching for rare, forgotten books. Ena’s path shifts when she discovers a mysterious postcard, leading her on a search for a long-lost writer across the city.
Alvarado’s debut is described as a poetic exploration of memory and displacement. By blending a family portrait with a literary mystery, the film examines the fragile boundaries between history, fiction, and personal experience. The production highlights the vibrant yet melancholic atmosphere of Caracas, serving as a backdrop for the narrative.
