Middle-earth Returns to Hall H
Prime Video took over San Diego Comic-Con’s iconic Hall H to showcase the highly anticipated third season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay were on hand to debut a brand-new teaser trailer, offering a glimpse into the darker tone of the upcoming season as Sauron’s quest to forge the One Ring intensifies.
The new footage highlights a world at war, five years after the fall of Eregion. With Sauron’s armies marching across Middle-earth, the remaining free peoples must form uneasy alliances to prevent the Dark Lord from achieving total victory.
New Cast and Surprising Voices
The panel confirmed several new character additions for the upcoming season. Eddie Marsan joins the cast as Thrain, the older brother of King Durin IV, while Andrew Richardson takes on the role of Anarion. Additionally, Adam Young will portray a mysterious Orc named Marnûkh. These actors join previously announced cast members Jamie Campbell Bower as Celeborn and Zubin Varla as Khamûl the Easterling.
Perhaps the most surprising reveal of the event was the voice behind one of Middle-earth’s most fearsome creatures. During a featurette on the show’s creature design, it was confirmed that Simon Pegg will provide the voice for The Balrog, marking the first time the fiery entity will speak in the series.
Season 3 Release Schedule
The third season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set to arrive on Prime Video this fall. The premiere will feature the first four episodes on November 11, 2026. Following the launch, episodes 305 and 306 will debut on November 18, with the final two episodes of the season concluding the story on November 25.
The inclusion of Simon Pegg and the introduction of the Nazgnagôl—the Second Age precursors to the Nazgûl—suggests the series is leaning heavily into the darker lore of the Second Age. With the One Ring now central to the plot, the stakes for the inhabitants of Khazad-dûm, Lindon, and Rivendell have never been higher.
