Lucasfilm and Production I.G have officially announced that the new 8-episode limited anime series Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi will premiere August 5, 2026, exclusively on Disney+ and Hulu. The announcement arrived alongside the debut of the official trailer and key art, which were unveiled during a special panel at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles.
This new project introduces the Star Wars: Visions Presents banner, a platform designed to expand upon stories from the original Star Wars: Visions shorts. The limited series continues the narrative of Lah Kara as she trains under Margrave Juro. The story follows Kara and a small fellowship of Jedi-in-training as they embark on a quest to save her father.
Creative Team and Voice Cast
The series is directed by Shunsuke Tada with Kenji Kamiyama serving as supervising director. The script was written by Mitsuyasu Sakai. The English dub features a returning voice cast including Kimiko Glenn as Lah Kara, Andrew Kishino as Juro, and Simu Liu as Lah Zhima, alongside new additions such as Young Mazino and Chase Sui Wonders.
The expansion of the Visions universe into longer-form storytelling is a notable shift for the franchise. By moving beyond the anthology format of the original shorts, Lucasfilm is clearly looking to deepen the lore and character arcs established in the fan-favorite Ninth Jedi entry. This approach provides a unique opportunity to explore the Jedi-in-training dynamic in a more serialized anime format.
Watch the Trailers
Fans can get their first look at the series through the official English dub trailer or the original Japanese language trailer. The series is set to be a major highlight for Star Wars fans this summer as it bridges the gap between short-form experimentation and traditional serialized anime.
