A new R-rated comedy titled Mini War has officially added Luke Wilson and Vanessa Hudgens to its cast. The project is notable for reuniting several key creative forces behind the 2006 cult comedy Grandma’s Boy nearly two decades after its release.
The film is written by Nick Swardson, Allen Covert, and Joel David Moore, with Moore also serving as director. The story follows Joe, played by Wilson, who inherits his late uncle’s miniature golf course. His plans to sell the property are thwarted by Darren, played by Swardson, who owns a neighboring go-kart track and wants to expand his business onto the land. Hudgens plays Olivia, the owner of a nearby hot-dog stand who gets caught in the middle of the escalating feud between the two neighbors.
A Reunion for Cult Comedy Fans
The production brings together a significant portion of the team that worked on Grandma’s Boy. In addition to the writing and directing team, producers Bill Todman Jr. and Edward Milstein are returning to collaborate on this new project. The involvement of these creators suggests the film will aim to capture the same irreverent tone that helped the original movie build a dedicated following over the years.
Joel David Moore is producing the film through Balcony 9 Productions alongside Jarod Einsohn and Limor Hakim of Level 1 Entertainment. David Wachs and Ojan Missaghi are also producing on behalf of Toric Films. While the cast and creative team are now set, the studio has not yet announced an official release date for the project.
