Following the success of his recent streaming hit The Wrecking Crew, Jason Momoa is reuniting with Amazon MGM Studios for a new project. The studio has officially picked up the action comedy Shots! Shots! Shots!, which was previously in development at Universal Studios.
Momoa is currently in talks to star in and produce the feature film. The project was originally written by Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows, who first sold the spec script to Universal in 2022. Following shifts in budgetary priorities at Universal, the studio placed the film into turnaround, allowing Amazon MGM to move quickly to acquire the rights.
A New Direction for Momoa
While specific plot details remain under wraps, the film is described as a family-centric adventure. Early reports suggest the tone will draw inspiration from action staples like True Lies and The Lost City. Jonathan Eirich of Rideback is set to produce the film alongside Jeff Fierson, with Mider and Burrows serving as executive producers.
This acquisition highlights the growing partnership between the actor and the studio. The Wrecking Crew proved to be a significant streaming success for the platform, prompting the company to continue its collaboration with the star. While the film is currently in development, it is not expected to be Momoa’s next immediate production.
A Busy Schedule Ahead
Momoa maintains a packed slate of upcoming projects. He is slated to appear as the antihero Lobo in DC Studios’ Supergirl, which is scheduled for a June 26 release. His schedule also includes Legendary’s Street Fighter, arriving in theaters on October 16, followed by his return to the franchise in Dune: Part Three on December 18.
The move to Amazon MGM provides a fresh start for the project, which had been stalled since its time at Universal. For fans of the actor, this new venture promises a blend of action and comedy that aligns with his recent career trajectory.
