Dan Trachtenberg shared fresh details about his plans for the Predator franchise after he signed a first look directing and producing agreement with Paramount. He told reporters that he remains fully committed to expanding the world of the Yautja hunters.
Trachtenberg Stays on the Hunt
In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Trachtenberg confirmed that he continues to dream up new stories for the Predator franchise future. He explained that the new Paramount deal lets him work on original projects while still developing sequel ideas. He said timing will decide which movies move forward first.
Recent Predator Hits
Trachtenberg directed three recent Predator entries: Prey (2022), Killer of Killers (2025) and Badlands (2025). Critics praised each film, and Badlands earned more than $184 million worldwide, making it the franchise’s highest grossing entry. This success fuels his desire to keep the series alive.
Badlands Cliffhanger
Trachtenberg wants to explore the cliffhanger that ends Badlands. He plans to show more of Dek’s relationship with his mother and to reveal what happens after the cryogenically frozen Yautja survivors are discovered on Yautja Prime.
Potential New Stories
He also mentioned ideas for a Prey sequel, an Alien versus Predator crossover, and even a possible return for Arnold Schwarzenegger. Each concept could fit into the larger Predator franchise future.
What the Paramount Deal Means
The first look agreement gives Trachtenberg the freedom to pitch original theatrical projects to Paramount. He said the studio offers a rare chance to bring long‑held ideas to life. At the same time, Paramount’s library of intellectual property could inspire fresh Predator spin‑offs.
Fans can look forward to Badlands streaming on Hulu on February 12 and arriving on physical media on February 17. Trachtenberg’s next steps will likely blend new original work with continued Predator storytelling.
