Dwayne Johnson The Rock The Scorpion King

The Rock May Return to The Mummy 4 and Lead a New Scorpion King Film

Universal Pictures wants to bring back the adventure vibe that made The Mummy series a hit. The studio has confirmed that Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz will reprise their roles as Rick and Evelyn OConnell. They also announced that directors Matt Bettinelli Olpin and Tyler Gillett will helm the fourth movie. Fans are excited because the duo delivered strong scares and laughs in recent horror projects.

The studio is also looking for a big name to add extra buzz. Reports from online scooper Daniel Richtman say that Universal plans to feature a cameo by Dwayne Johnson in the upcoming film. The idea is to link the new story with the older Scorpion King legend that first appeared in The Mummy Returns.

The Rock Could Return as The Scorpion King

Daniel Richtman claims that Universal wants The Rock back for a fresh Scorpion King picture. He says the studio hopes to lock Johnson into more than one project. The plan could involve a new standalone Scorpion King movie and a brief appearance in The Mummy 4. This strategy would give the studio two strong marketing angles at once.

Johnson first played Mathayus, known as the Scorpion King, in The Mummy Returns. His performance turned the villain into a fan favorite. The character later received a solo spin off that helped launch Johnson’s movie career. Now the actor hints that he is still open to revisiting the role.

In a recent interview Johnson said, “I don’t know. I’m always open. To be clear, that is Brendan Fraser’s franchise. I love that man. He’s one of my great supporters. We support each other, and if they want to call the Scorpion King, I know a guy who knows a guy… I would certainly consider it. Yeah, because also, that franchise changed my life.”

His words show that he respects the original series while staying interested in new possibilities. If Universal moves forward, fans could see a blend of legacy characters and fresh action.

The potential multi picture deal could give the studio a chance to revive two beloved franchises at once. A new Scorpion King movie would let Johnson explore the ancient hero in a modern setting. At the same time, a cameo in The Mummy 4 would tie the two stories together for longtime fans.

Overall, Universal appears ready to invest in big names and classic monsters. The combination of Fraser, Weisz, and Johnson could draw both old fans and new viewers to the theaters.
