Fans noticed a clip of Simu Liu chatting with Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson on the show Good Sports. In the clip Liu jokes that his “life is in danger” because Marvel watches his every move. Some viewers took the joke out of context and thought Liu was saying that Shang Chi would die in the upcoming Avengers Doomsday movie.
Why the Rumors Are False
In reality Liu was only teasing the hosts. He explained that Marvel keeps the plot under lock and key and that he cannot share any details. When Hart and Thompson pressed him for spoilers, Liu laughed and said the rumors about a musical score or a heated rivalry between Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. are just jokes. He also confirmed that he is part of the Secret Wars cast, which means his character is likely to survive Doomsday.
Shang Chi Sequel Update
Liu also used the interview to talk about the future of Shang Chi. He told People magazine that a sequel to Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is in the works. The sequel does not have a release date yet, but fans can expect more of the hero’s story after the Avengers movies.
Release Dates and Future Plans
Marvel Studios has scheduled Avengers Doomsday for December 18 2026. The follow up, Avengers Secret Wars, will arrive on December 17 2027. Both films are currently in post production and the studio is keeping details tightly sealed. Meanwhile, Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is available to stream on Disney+.</n
These dates give fans a clear timeline for the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The rumors that Liu would spoil the ending have been debunked, and the excitement for the upcoming movies continues to grow.
