Netflix finally Bringing a LIVE ACTION Gundam Film?

Deadline reports that Netflix will distribute a live action Gundam movie starring Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo. The series creator Yoshiyuki Tomino and Sunrise built Gundam as a space opera that pits giant mechs against colonies fighting for freedom. Over the years the Gundam franchise grew into a massive brand with TV shows, video games, manga and more.

Director Jim Mickle, known for Sweet Tooth and Stake Land, will helm the Gundam live action Netflix project. He wrote the script and will produce the film with partner Linda Moran under their Nightshade banner. Legendary Pictures and Bandai Namco Filmworks co‑develop the movie. Mickle brings a horror background and a talent for visual storytelling, which should help him capture the scale of Gundam battles.

In 2021 Netflix announced a different Gundam effort with Jordan Vogt Roberts. He released concept art that showed a towering mech, but he later left the project. Now the new team moves forward with fresh talent and a clear distribution plan.

What’s Next for Sweeney and Centineo

Gundam Movie

Sydney Sweeney recently starred in The Housemaid, a thriller that earned nearly $295 million worldwide. The success sparked a sequel and raised her profile. She also launched a lingerie line and made headlines for a bold Hollywood Sign stunt. Fans now anticipate her turn as the lead in the Gundam live action Netflix film.

Noah Centineo will appear as the male lead opposite Sweeney. He also prepares to play Ken Masters in the upcoming Street Fighter movie, which releases in theaters on October 16. Centineo brings a youthful energy that should match the high stakes of the Gundam story.

The partnership between Netflix, Legendary and Bandai Namco promises a global release. Viewers can expect a blend of practical effects and CGI that honors the original mecha designs while offering a fresh visual style. The film aims to attract both longtime Gundam fans and newcomers who enjoy sci‑fi action.

Overall the project signals Netflix’s commitment to big budget genre films. By securing a well‑known director, popular actors and a beloved franchise, the platform hopes to draw a large audience and generate buzz across social media.

Fans should watch for official trailers, casting updates and release dates as the production progresses. The excitement around this Gundam live action Netflix movie shows how the streaming giant continues to expand its original film slate.
