Discover the New IMAX Trailer for Scarlet and Why Fans Can’t Miss It

Sony Pictures has released a fresh IMAX trailer for Scarlet. The trailer shows the film in a larger format and invites viewers to experience Hosoda’s latest vision. The anime returns to IMAX screens on February 6 2026. Fans who missed the December run now have a second chance. The trailer highlights the film’s scale, emotion and vivid imagination.

About Director Mamoru Hosoda

Mamoru Hosoda is known for The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, Wolf Children, The Boy and the Beast, Mirai and Belle. With Scarlet he pushes his style into darker territory. He blends fantasy myth and time travel drama in a way that feels fresh.

Plot Overview

The story follows Scarlet, a brave princess voiced by Mana Ashida. After her father is killed she awakens in a surreal realm called the Land of the Dead. In that realm unfinished vengeance carries a terrible price.

If Scarlet does not defeat her enemy and reach a place known as The Endless Place she will fade into Emptiness. Her quest carries her across time and space. She eventually meets Hijiri, a modern Japanese man voiced by Masaki Okada. Their meeting adds a twist that feels like a modern take on Hamlet mixed with an isekai style fantasy.

Production Details

Scarlet is also known in Japan as Endless Scarlet or Scarlet Without Limits. Hosoda writes and directs the film. Producers Yûichirô Saitô, Nozomu Takahashi and Toshimi Tanio support the project. Studio Chizu and Nippon TV produce while Sony Pictures distributes.

What the Trailer Shows

The IMAX trailer emphasizes the film’s vivid colors and expansive landscapes. It gives a glimpse of the Land of the Dead and the emotional stakes for Scarlet. The music swells as the trailer builds tension. Viewers see a brief clash between Scarlet and her foe, hinting at the final showdown.

Why Fans Should Watch

Fans of Hosoda’s earlier work will recognize his signature heart and visual flair. New viewers will enjoy the blend of fantasy and drama. The IMAX format adds depth that makes the surreal world feel real. The trailer promises a cinematic experience that is rare for anime.

Mark your calendar for February 6 2026 and plan to see Scarlet in IMAX. The trailer invites you to join Scarlet on her quest before she disappears into Emptiness.
