IMAX has just shared its 2026 film slate and fans are buzzing. The company said the list is not final, but it gives a clear picture of what will hit IMAX screens next year. The slate includes twenty titles that span many genres and promises big moments for movie lovers.
Early Year Releases
The year opens with Mercy on January 23rd followed by The Bride on March 6th and Project Hail Mary on March 20th. In April, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie arrives on the 3rd and Michael follows on April 24th. May brings Mortal Kombat II on the 8th and The Mandalorian and Grogu on May 22nd. These early titles set a strong pace for the IMAX 2026 film slate.
July becomes the busiest month. Minions 3 launches on July 1st, Moana on July 10th and the highly anticipated Christopher Nolan IMAX release The Odyssey lands on July 17th. The Odyssey is a key draw for IMAX fans and may affect other releases such as Spider‑Man: Brand New Day. August adds Flowervale Street on the 14th and September sees Resident Evil on the 18th.
Fall and Holiday Highlights
October opens with an untitled Iñárritu and Tom Cruise project on the 2nd and Street Fighter on October 16th. In November, Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping appears on the 20th and Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew follows on November 26th. The year ends with a double‑feature on December 18th: Avengers: Doomsday and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part III. Both titles promise massive IMAX screens and are expected to boost ticket sales.
IMAX reported a 29 percent rise in domestic box office in the third quarter, while regular cinemas fell 11 percent. The strong lineup helps explain that growth. The mix of family friendly fare, action, sci‑fi and fantasy gives something for every audience. It also shows IMAX’s strategy to partner with top directors and franchises.
Gaps and Opportunities
The slate leaves gaps in early January, February, early June, early September and early November. Those windows could welcome surprise releases or special events. Industry watchers will keep an eye on how IMAX fills those spots.
Fans should watch for updates from IMAX as the company finalizes dates and adds new titles. The focus on big‑budget blockbusters and beloved franchises suggests that IMAX will continue to dominate the premium large format market.
