Apple CEO Tim Cook lifted the curtain on the iPhone 17 release at the Steve Jobs Theater. He showed three models: the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and the brand new iPhone Air. All three phones run faster, hold a charge longer and feel more durable.
iPhone Air – The Thinnest Phone
The iPhone Air is only 5.6 mm thick. It is built from titanium and uses 80 percent recycled material. A ceramic shield wraps the whole device for extra protection. The phone sports a 6.5 inch display and a new modem that uses 30 percent less power. Its thin profile makes it feel like it disappears in your hand.
Apple calls the iPhone 17 Pro the most powerful iPhone ever. It adds a telephoto lens and a feature called Center Stage that switches from portrait to landscape automatically. Users can record video from the rear and front cameras at the same time. A new heat‑diffusion system keeps the phone cooler during long sessions.
Pricing and Availability
The iPhone 17 starts at $799, the iPhone Air costs $999 and the iPhone 17 Pro retails for $1,099. Apple says all three models will ship on September 19.
The latest Apple Watch SE 3 tracks heart rate, respiratory rate, sleep duration and wrist temperature. A new alert warns users of high blood pressure. The watch also offers fresh band styles from Nike and Hermès.
AirPods Pro 3 Live Translation
Apple introduced AirPods Pro 3 with stronger active noise cancellation and better sound. The pods now translate spoken language in real time, sending the translation directly to each ear. They also include a heart rate sensor for workouts and a longer battery life.
While Apple remains a market leader, growth has slowed since the early iPhone days. The Vision Pro headset struggled after its 2024 debut. Apple’s iPhone revenue stayed flat at $201.2 billion in 2024.
Production Shifts
In response to global tariffs and supply chain issues, Apple is moving more iPhone production to India. The company also pledged $100 billion for new facilities in the United States, a move that aligns with recent political discussions.
If you want a phone that feels almost weightless, the iPhone Air delivers. If health tracking matters, the new Apple Watch alerts you to high blood pressure. And if you travel often, AirPods Pro 3 will break language barriers instantly.
