Street Fighter: Dhalsim Actor Joins Live-Action Movie

Dhalsim, the mystical yogi and pacifist from the iconic Street Fighter II game, is set to make his live-action debut in the upcoming Street Fighter movie. Indian action film star Vidyut Jammwal has been cast in the role, bringing the beloved character to life on the big screen.

This addition to the cast marks a significant milestone, as Dhalsim is one of the core eight characters from the game, known for his unique abilities, such as spitting fire and stretching his limbs to extreme lengths. With Dhalsim on board, only one playable character from Street Fighter II remains to be announced: Russian wrestler Zangief.

The Cast So Far

The movie, produced by Legendary Pictures and Capcom, boasts an impressive cast, including Andrew Koi as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog, Orville Peck as Vega, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Roman Reigns as Akuma, and Hirooki Goto as E. Honda.

The Street Fighter franchise has sold over 55 million units worldwide since its launch, making it one of the most well-known and highest-grossing franchises of all time.

Dhalsim’s live-action debut is a significant moment for fans of the game, and the movie’s impressive cast and global fighting tournament plot are sure to excite both old and new fans alike.

The story, directed by Kitao Sakurai, revolves around a global fighting tournament. Filming is set to begin next month in Australia.
