First Look at Avatar: Seven Havens – A New Era Begins
The Avatar universe is expanding again. Nickelodeon has officially revealed the first details and image from Avatar: Seven Havens, an all-new animated series that continues the legacy of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. The announcement was made during a special presentation at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, marking the franchise’s 20th anniversary.
A New Avatar Emerges
The story follows twin Earthbenders living in a post-cataclysm world where the Avatar is viewed not as a savior, but as the cause of humanity’s suffering. When one of the twins discovers she is the next Avatar, her identity becomes a source of fear and resistance rather than hope. The setting features vast deserts, fractured cities, and strange celestial lights that hint at a deeper mystery beneath the surface.
In the official first-look image, the new Avatar is shown walking through a rocky canyon with her animal companion, a hybrid of a cat and a lemur, toward a distant city under an unusual sky. The visual tone suggests a darker, more mature take on the world first introduced in the early 2000s.
Creators Return for the Next Chapter
The series is led by original creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. During the Comic-Con panel, they were joined by long-time collaborators Janet Varney, Mae Whitman, and Zach Tyler Eisen to share behind-the-scenes stories and tease what lies ahead. While still rooted in the elemental bending traditions, Avatar: Seven Havens will explore the Avatar legacy from a fresh perspective.
More from the Avatar Universe
In addition to the new series, a feature film titled The Legend of Aang: The Last Avatar is set to premiere in theaters on October 9, 2026. The film will feature Eric Nam as Aang and Jessica Matten as Katara, among other new cast members. Fans will be able to revisit the original Team Avatar in their prime with updated animation and a theatrical scope.
