Karl Urban and Ben Barnes join Overdrive

My first real impression of Karl Urban came from his performance as the devoted horeseman Eomer. Sure I have some memories of him as Julias Caesar on Xena: Warrior Princess and he portrayed ‘Bones’ in the 2009 Star Trek movie but I always felt that his performance in the Two Towers and Return of the King were some of his strongest and most memorable. As such, I completely expected to see a lot more of the guy in film moving forward and… well, I did! Today’s news is that we can expect another sighting of the actor when he gears up to join “Overdrive”.

In the film, they’ll appear as “a pair of handsome and adventurous brothers, known for being high-profile car thieves, who travel to the South of France looking for new challenges and come across a tough local crime boss.” Transit and Seconds Apart director Antonio Negret is helming for producer Pierre Morel. The project itself is currently an independent affair, but shooting is scheduled to kick off on October 29th.
The premise is seriously lacking some details but the script comes from the same writing duo responsible for 3:10 Yuma.

Again, I had a lot of good impressions from Karl Urban in the LoTR movies, Bourne, and Star Trek and I look forward to seeing his career continue to develop. Can’t say much for what’s going on in his movie starring as Judge Dredd and I’m not so sure about Ben Barnes other than his adventures as Prince Caspian in the Narnia movies, which I “accidentally” missed, but with him I’ll just play a “wait and see”.
