Stanley Tucci joins The Hunger Games

With the Hunger Games film adaptation hard on its way with casting news, the interviewer Caesar Flickerman will be played by none other than Stanley Tucci!

Directly from the press release:

Lionsgate® and the filmmakers of THE HUNGER GAMES are pleased to announce that Stanley Tucci (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, CAPTAIN AMERICA, THE LOVELY BONES) has been cast in the role of Caesar Flickerman in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel.

I really like Stanley Tucci. Everything he is in seems to be a little bit better.

The role of Caesar Flickerman is significant as he is the interviewer and direct face of the media that tries to put a glamourous spin on the barbaric Hunger Games.

The character is also known to adapt to the captial fashion trend to rapidly change the colour of his hair, lips and wearing garish makeup. I could see Tucci completely running with this.

While reading the book, I saw Martin Short in the role, but considering Tucci, I can’t see anyone else!

  1. My class in school wrote a bunch of letters to director Gary Ross about this film and he actually replied back to us, he said he wants to come meet us and talk to us about the film. The lady who interviewed him said that the letters had a huge impact Ross for making the film.

  2. I can totally see Stanley in this role. He has an air about him that I think lends itself to this character quite well. In the book, Caesar is also known for putting the tributes at ease and drawing them out to make them look their best in their interviews. I liken this character to a variant of the character he played in Devil Wears Prada.

  3. I’m totally stoked about this appointment. I agree, he’s awesome in everything from Julia and Julie to The Lovely Bones. I hope you’re right and he does “run with it” as you say!
