The Director for Die Hard 5 is…

Die Hard 5 has found a director, and it is Noam Murro. Murro directed “Smart People,” but most will know his work on the latest Halo ad campaign.

Deadline reports:

Die Hard 5 is moving toward the start gate at 20th Century Fox. I’m told the studio will set Noam Murro to direct the film that has been scripted by Skip Woods. They will continue to develop the script. While Murro directed the Sarah Jessica Parker-starrer Smart People for Miramax. Murro really impressed Fox brass with his most recent campaign for the Halo video game.

Murro is a relatively inexperience feature director, but he has won a ton of awards for his commercials, and the Halo ads are pretty great. To be fair, I think after the $384 million grossed worldwide for Live Free and Die Hard, Murro was probably a carefully considered choice, so we can probably trust the studio. I just hope we get back to a rated R John McClane.

  1. The original Die Hard is 23 years old. Seems hard to believe that it’s been that long. I love this series. Some of the films are better than others but they are all enjoyable. Bruce Willis is the perfect John McClane, but he is a lot older now so it will be interesting to see where they go with the script. These films are at their best when the villian is an interesting character and cast well. I hope this one will be as good as the first, we’ll see.

  2. Be a skeptic if you want to; ‘Smart Peoplee’ was a terrific film. Die Hard has outrageous over the top action, yes, but it takes time out for comedy and drama now and then. Going on the latter, I think the choice of director isn’t a bad one at all.

  3. I thought the last film was more of Bruce Willis playing Jack Bauer in a feature film Willis style that is. And it was a fun action flick I own it. But It was in know way a Die Hard film no cursing no blood and people say well watch the unrated version it is still not Die Hard John needs to unload magazine after magazine of rounds into a guy and make it stylish but dirty at the same time.

  4. I think with the previous film being PG-13 it didn’t affect the franchise in anyway. It was still a good movie and was enjoyable. As long as it has John McClane kicking ass as usual I’m happy. I wonder if any previous cast members will come back to reprise a role as well?
