Five Girls line up to be Spider-Mans Love Interest

Some big news about Sony’s proposed Spider-Man reboot. They now have five girls lined up to play Spidey’s love interest for the film, but while we know the five girls they are thinking about, we don’t know who she will be playing? Will it be Mary Jane again? Gwen Stacey? or even someone never seen in the comics?

io9.com says:

The character will reportedly not be Mary-Jane, and it’s still unclear whether it will be Gwen Stacy, someone else from the comics, or a new character entirely. The five are reportedly Imogen Poots, Ophelia Lovibond, Lily Collins, Teresa Palmer, and Emma Roberts.

I am really conflicted over these potentials because I cannot make an informed decision on who I might want to see in the role, when I don’t know what that role exactly will be.

Peter Parker is a player and while he has always had eyes for the sexy redhead, he didnt exactly wait around for her. Here is a list of Parker’s trysts who could potentially be his love interest in the movie:

Gwen Stacy – College Girlfriend (Killed by Green Goblin)
Betty Brant – Receptionist and co-worker at the Daily Bugle
Mary-Jane Watson – Superhot red-head girl next door
Cissy Ironwood – inconsequential college girlfriend
Debra Whitman – inconsequential post-college girlfriend
Felicia Hardy – Pseudo villain The Black Cat.

Imogen Poots is attractive as is Ophelia Lovibond, but Lily Collins is just creepy looking with those beastly brows so I hope she doesn’t get any of it. Teresa Palmer was most recently seen in The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and she does a good job being the hero’s girl. But most of all I would like to see Emma Roberts in anything because she can hold her own.

They might create an entirely NEW character that would deviate from the comics entirely, which wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. But I think if they go with an existing character for a love interest, they should learn from the past and start at the beginning so they don’t trip over themselves intermixing roles and messing with fanboy rage.

The reboot has to stand on its own, so anything they do that is different, but still the same as the comics will help.

I wouldn’t be surprised if his webslingers are mechanical.

    1. And you assume that all of this purely has to do with looks?

Looking the part – whatever part that turns out to be – is just as engaging as playing the part. Just as in the article I mention looks as well as presence.

Like women are any less judgmental about appearances.

  1. Wow. “Beastly brows” can be plucked or waxed, you know. Do you think Emma Roberts’ naturally grow the way they do in that picture?

Anyway, I’d like to see Palmer or Roberts, depending on which character we will actually end up with.

    1. iT’S NOT LIKE SHE LOOKS LIKE fRIDA OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT, BESIDES I can remember when everyone was GA-GA over Brooke Shields and her “can paint a house eyebrows”.

  2. Web Slingers for sure! I remember how suprised I was when they went with the webgasims in the last era, but like all things Spidey you accept them and move on.

and one question:who’s the old lookin’ lady in the green dress?
cause she’s looks over 30 (not that that’s old) and for a teen hero, she’d be a M.I.L.F. or a cougar

  3. I thought I’d read somewhere that this Spiderman reboot was going to focus a lot more on around the time he first got his powers, which would be high school. If that is true I’d wager this woman is a totally new character.

I wouldn’t be surprised if his webslingers are mechanical.
I hope so. I’d really like to see him doing trial and error to figure out the mix for the webbing a la Iron Man testing his suit. Comedy would ensue.
