Joe Quesada talks Captain America

Marvel Mob Boss Joe Quesada was in a Q&A at the Big Apple Comic Con this past weekend and while he dodged a few bullets he did express his confidence in Captain America.

JoBlo quotes Quesada:

“I’ve seen a couple of outlines and an initial screenplay, and it’s going to rock everyone’s socks off,”Joe said as reported by the folks of Comic Book Resources. “It’s very unexpected, the kind of movie it is,”he expressed before adding that the people behind it have an “undisclosed” wish list of actors.

So while this is still in its earlier stages, there are some things set in motion. Its good to know they are already scouting their cast, now to see if they get their wish list fulfilled.

No confirmation that this movie would be entirely in World War 2 Era ending with Rogers being frozen in Ice and discovered years later, but we are told that this will “set up” the Avengers film.

How exactly we don’t know, but we were already aware that this is being released earlier in the same summer as Avengers, so I presumed it would seamlessly step right in.

  1. My fav comic as a teen, and I’m anxious as hell to see this movie! I really really really hope they do a great job. Can’t make it too childish (ie. promoted too much to the kids) but understanding marketing and the toys side, I hope it’s still smart enough adults will enjoy it!

  2. Seriously need a great actor for this, and not an unknown. He is going to be the LEADER of the Avengers. Someone suggested Aaron Eckhart, which I couldn’t agree more with.

    1. He has to be young enough to look as if he went right from high school to an Army recruiting office

      As in, his face.

And ripped enough to look like the perfect human once after the Super Soldier serum

      Aaron fits none of these.

I think that once they cast Cap, we will all be shocked at the choice.

  3. Well coming from him it means nothing, he’s MARVEL’s chief editor

He also said that it leads perfectly to the Avengers movie
I think that at the end of the movie cap gets unfrozen and he gets out of the capsule and you see Banner, Thor and Ironman
Maybe that’s what he meant when he said that

    1. Means plenty. He may not be in charge of the film, but he has seen what they have so far and his opinion on it is not only qualified, but it means a LOT for the credability of the film.

    2. I disagree

As MARVELS EIC i think he would get punched in the face if he gives the movie a bad rap, especially in such early stages.

Its like having the head of DC tell us that the Green Lantern movie is going to be biblical. I mean, sure… maybe hes right… but then again, would he really say otherwise?

I’m not saying he was supposed to LIE, I personally think that it really IS going to be good, just like he said.

I want to hear the opinion from someone that doesnt work in the same building as Stan Lee.

      1. Well at this point, no one other than those directly involved in the film know what they do.

And in that Q&A he blew off questions about the Disney acquisition and other topics he refused to comment on as well, which from a PR point of view could be interpreted as disapproval.

If the film wasn’t shaping up to his liking, he likely would have given a non-commital generalization like “We are working on things” instead of a shining endorsement.
