One of the problems with musicals that are brought to film is that if you are passionate enough about the musical you might want to sing a long. I don’t recommend that you do. You are not as good a singer as you think you are.
There I said it.
However for those of you who do not care about your singing voice or just want to revel in the joy of going to the theater and wanting to sing and dance along to the music, Universal has just the ticket for you!
Mamma Mia!: The Sing-Along Edition will open on Aug. 29 in select theaters. It’ll be the same movie, only with all the musical numbers subtitled and audience members encouraged to join in on the vocals.
Now I just can’t see myself at one of these viewings. But much like the subjectivity of movies, if you don’t like the film or not interested in it… don’t go.
Seems that Universal just might have a special something for the uber fans who want to go and party it up to the musical stylings of Abba and Meryl Streep in an overall!
For those of you who were big fans of this musical and film… would you go to one of these viewings??
I absoluetly loved Momma Mia! I’ve watched it 3 times and I purchased the CD after the first viewing. I hope that the sing-a-long version comes to my local theater, cuz I will certainly be there. I was singing (softly) each time and would definitely sing (and maybe dance!) if given the chance. I’m a 60 year young g’ma who had the time of her life watching this movie. I’ve recommended it to everyone I know and have not heard one person (including men) say they didn’t enjoy it. It’s the best “feel good” movie I’ve ever had the pleasure to watch…. and there have been lots of them in my lifetime!! GO SEE IT!!!

I “LOVED” THIS MOVIE. I’VE SEEN IT THREE TIMES NOW AND WOULD GO AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT…AND SING MY HEART OUT!!!!
the movie was terrific!
a sing a long would be SO much fun
huahaha… if I loved the music, it’s okay to go. But I didn’t like ABBA that much. Sweeney Todd, maybe?
My my. How can I resist this?
If the ticket was free, and I was drunk, stoned, on X, and dropped acid maybe ?
I saw a clip of this (abomination) film with Pierce Brosnan siging, and it was the funniest.
(The thing is Brosonan sings like shit). ;-)
Yes and probably several times again. This movie is a laugh when people join in the singing. Alcohol helps with the embarrassment (apparently)
Let’s just say I haven’t wanted to see Mamma Mia yet because of the rumors about people actually singing along. Thank goodness for a sing-along version for that.
Phantom was awesome. Dragonslayer, if you don’t like musicals, then don’t watch em. Simple as that!
Yeah, Phantom of the Opera sucked
Man, I would have loved something like this, for when Phantom of the Opera came out.
Mamma Mia make me feel the way I did when I first saw Jar-Jar
I loved Sweeney Todd. But that’s it. No more musicals
