A couple of my absolute favorite DVD’s are An Evening With Kevin Smith 1&2. Before seeing these live Q&A storytelling videos, I already appreciated Smith’s accomplishments and his style, although admittedly not a huge fan. But after seeing him, hearing his stories and getting a bit of an inside look at what happens in his world and how he navigates it, I become a massive fan of Kevin Smith as a person (not to mention I think Clerks 2 is actually one of the best comedies I’ve ever seen). If you’ve never seen these DVDs, I HIGHLY recommend them. They are so entertaining!
Anyway, word has come out by way of News Askew that Smith has a third Q&A/storytelling DVD on the way in October which is being titled “Kevin Smith: Sold Out”. I love the title already. The report gives us this:
This disc will chronicle the evening Kevin spend in Red Bank, New Jersey on his 37th birthday. We were there with full coverage of the event (though are saving some of the spoilerish stuff for after the disc’s release). Kevin entertained the crowd for another marathon Q&A and a ton of new tales, including the incredible saga of Die Hard 4 that you just have to hear (worth the disc’s price alone).
If you want a taste of what these DVDs are like, here is that classic story from the first Evening with Kevin Smith where he tells the story of how he and Tim Burton almost made the new Superman movie… this is CLASSIC stuff:
I love any Kevin Smith Q&A, You get to find out so much about behind the scenes, opinions of co-workers/celebrities. He is an amazing story teller. I can’t wait for Zack and Miri, and hope I will eventually get to see him live!
The first two were great, but did the opposite thing with me that it did with you, it made me dislike him a bit.

(I think it takes a certain amount of true geekness to apreciate Kevin’s Q&A without intermitions and not miss a moment of and LIKE IT jejee) Kevin smith is the kind of you guy you just wanna hagn out with on a boring day to do absolutely nothing and com up with as much crap as you can or idiotic wel founded discussions.
Can’t wait, his stories are great to listen to and he’s funny as hell!
Hooray; i know ‘Evening with’s’ 1 & 2 inside and out, i’ve watched them so many times. I read the Die Hard 4 story in his book ‘My Boring Ass Life’ and it is a mighty tale.
The only thing that makes for uncomfortable viewing is the heckling assholes and guys who hog the mike and want him to read their scripts. The Canadian audience in Evening 2 was full of people like that. I hope Kevin gets a bit more respect from his audience in this new one.
I love his podcast with Scott Mosier. So entertaining to hear them discuss and speculate about the most random, inane stuff.
Finally. I was scouring the internet last week trying to find out the release of Evening 3 (Sold Out).
I’ll be there first in line to buy my copy.
Yeah I love these movie. After watching these I thought Smith should be a stand up comedian. I loved all the ViewAskew movies, and am intrested in his new project. However in the back of my mind I was hoping for another “Evening” DVD. Im going to go buy them this week.
Awesome news. Love the Q&A’s. I always listen to SModcast every week. I could listen to Smith talk about a new pair of socks and I’ll be entertained.
