Goosebumps Movie

goosebumps-movie.jpgCould a Goosebumps movie work? There is a LOT of horror stuff all over the place. People usually like their horror to be in the “R” rated area, and for good reason. But why should horror be for adults only? Horror can be a very fun genre to watch… or even read. I think that’s the reason the Goosebumps series of books was always so popular. And it looks like that popularity is being turned into a film.

The good folks over at Cinematical give us this:

Prolific producer Neal H. Moritz knows a whole lot about making patently un-scary horror flicks (his resumé is littered with two Urban Legends, three Skulls, a Soul Survivors, three people who Know What You Did Last Summer, and one Prom Night — so far. Therefore simple logic dictates that, now that the mega-successful Goosebumps books are about to leap into the multiplexes, Mr. Moritz should be in charge of the operation.

Ok, so maybe it’s not the best guy in the world to be producing it… or is it? I mean, the guy clearly has experience in doing watered down horror (unfortunetly it’s been when it SHOULDN’T be watered down) and that is KINDA what they’d need for a Goodebumps movie right? (I’m trying to be optimistic)

Overall, I do think this is a good idea.

  2. weeelllll….. I think it s an okay idea, and they have got new books out based as a spin-off from the Horroland stories (1st n sequel) also I read someone claimed they were gonna have 60/62 movies from each book. I don’t really get it because it will just be like the DVD/Videos. Anyways, I like the sound of a creep show! Byesby!

  4. “im not sure about this one….i loved the goosebumps books and tv show as a kid but im not interested in this….i kind of grew up away from “kiddie” horror (tho some goosebumps stories had good stories) and dont see myself buying a ticket..”

Well you’re not in the target audience, so of course you wouldn’t be interested. Not everything is made to appeal to everyone.

“are they even publishing any new books?”

Yeah, they are. Check out Wikipedia. Goosebumps has been going steady since our childhoods. After the original series, there were the short story compilations (Tales to Give you Goosebumps) as well as Series 2000, plus the Give Yourself Goosebumps choose-your-own-adventure style series, then there were the graphic novels (There were three or four of these put out, which comic-izes three goosebumps stories per graphic novel, each story drawn by a different famous comic artist), and now there’s a new novel series starting up that I actually heard about the other day, that are all direct sequels to various storylines from the original series.

I read many of these as a kid, and I agree with DOm, a creepshow type thin would be cool.

That picture you posted with this story,… I remember seeing that episode, where the mask turns the girl into a monster. Creepy!!!!!
