As most of you know by now, the new Superman Returns full trailer has hit the web. Sorry I didn’t report on this sooner, but my travels had me flying to and back from Vancouver on the Pacific coast all in one day yesterday (I’m actually blogging this from the food court of the West Edmonton Mall). I’m sure you’ll forgive me. Anyway…
I finally had a chance to sit down and watch the trailer for myself… and all I have to say is WOW!!!! I think this think looks just freaking amazing! Kevin Spacey OWNS that Lex Luthor role… and Brandon Routh IS Clark Kent/Superman. I LOVE this trailer.
On a side not, the good folks over at AICN put up a script review of Superman Returns… and they didn’t like it. The funny thing is, as I read over it, everything they DIDN’T like about the script, I liked a lot. I think this has the potential to the deepest and best Superman film to date. But we’ll have to wait and see.

This is the third time I’m attempting to post this. Why do I feel I’m blackballed?
I HATE the way Brandon Routh looks in the Superman Costume.
On the OTHER HAND, he looks like a passible Clark Kent – Affeminate, high voice, smiling, clumsy, idiot-savantish.
Unfortunately, as the super-hero bearing the beloved S, he looks like SUPERBOY.
Lex Luthor / Kevin Spacey absolutely steals the show in terms of this trailer, and I suspect the movie as well. It’s apparent his antics are paying tribute to the Gene Hackman portrayal of Lex. Simultaneously, it’s obvious that Bryan Singer is borroring heavily from the Lex created by the Smallville franchise. The bright white suit and blue tie was used in a sequence involving lex, and that image of him has stuck in my head ever since it aired I think last season on Smallville (Season 4). It was the quintessential Luthor at his finest…
And I will say it again – Brandon Routh does NOT look the part of Superman, AT ALL. He has the hair, the curl, even the uniform.
But he does NOT have the stature, nor the presence, nor the aura, nor the BODY (god, definitely not the body) of a SUPERman.
They were never out to give it a dark/gritty look. Superman is not dark/gritty. They did want to make it less campy, and it seems as though they are.
It started out great and descended into campy hell. MEH.
I agree i think that Spacey will be the best part of Superman Returns

I thought that they brought on Bryan Singer to give it that dark , gritty feel that Batman Begins had, it looks more like Batman Forever chalk full of cheesy one liners.
I think Routh is wearing more make up than Buffalo Bill in Silence of the lambs

Agreed with above. Kevin Spacey looks absolutely incredible as Lex, I’m looking forward to seeing it just for that more then anything else.
Lex Luthor is going to be the best thing in that movie.
let me say it’s fan-fucking-tastic. The best part about this trailer is Kevin Spacy’s, Lex Luthor. Spacy pulls off the role so well from the trailer. From the trailer he has a little bit of Smallville’s Lex, with some the old Superman movie’s Lex and Spacy brings his own part to the character. The trailer is not too dark or to childish. It’s a amazing when Superman is trying to stop a plane from plunging into the ground and Superman VS a Minigun looks awsome. Also Malron Bradon is seen in this trailer in the Fortress Of Solitud sends chills down my spine All this in one trailer :o
