Neil Marshall directs Doomsday

TheDescent.jpgSuperb news from Variety through Coming Soon:

Rogue Pictures has joined forces with Los Angeles-based Crystal Sky Pictures to back Doomsday, the next project from British writer/director Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers, The Descent), says Variety.

The film is described as a futuristic action thriller with political overtones, set in northern England and Scotland.

I loved both Dog Soldiers and The Descent which was an excellent scare filled horror. I think Neil Marshall is a very good Director and certainly knows how to manipulate the audience, he also has a gift for the most natural dialogue I’ve heard. Both Soldiers and Descent showed this and produced some of the most believable characters and scenes you could ask for.

It’s also superb news that it’s based in Scotland and England…well Scotland more obviously! This time it would be nice if they managed to get the budget together to carry out prinicipal photography here though, although we all understand why they might not.

Any others out there big Marshall fans?

  1. DOG SOLDIERS had a great concept, and good cinematography. The acting was compelling as well, but I think at some point, the movie became too talky, and I didn’t find myself buying into the reactions of the soldiers to the outside threat. Saw the film a long time ago, and I rented it, so they got my $$. Haven’t seen his other film, but will look at it. Overall, I definitely think a style like this is welcomed when it comes to horror/thriller/genre pix. I work for NBCU, so if this guy can deliver for Rogue, then all the best…
