Don Adams died at age 82 on Sunday. The Howard Stern Show discussed the carrer of Adams this morning, covering his great work on the sitcom Get Smart. If you are not so familiar with this Nick at Nite rerun -those closer to my age- you know him as the voice of Inspector Gadget, and his role as the harbor master in Back to the Beach.
Adams had been ill for some time. Receiving a hip replacement a few years back and suffering from liver disease, which caused his passing.
Don Adams was a comedic icon of his time and his character from Get Smart looks to have a resurrection in the making. Currently Steve Carell is in pre production for the “Get Smart” Movie, playing the character coined by Adams.

Sad news to be sure. I absolutely loved the Get Smart re-runs growing up, it was a favorite and Inspector Gadget was lots of fun. (I always wanted Penny’s notebook)
Ouch, that sucks. I grew up on Get Smart and Inspector Gadget, granted Get Smart was a rerun for me, but still.. I watched the hell out of that show. Well that sucks; dead now though.
I was a bit concerned about the Get Smart movie with Steve Carell, but really after seeing 40 Year Old Virgin, I think it will work.
