A little while ago we reported on another big announcement from the uber movie salesman Avi Arad, and in amongst it was a nice titbit about the continuing hopes for a Silver Surfer movie. He talked of looking at a Directory who he was talking to for the movie and said…
“he’s incredible with visuals. But he’s also a spiritual guy, a Zen Buddhist.”
Now Cinematical are suggesting who that might be:
How many Zen Buddhist directors could there actually be? Probably not many. So the Internet has decided to make its own assumptions, and because of that, David O. Russell is now at the center of speculation. But would the I Heart Huckabees writer/director sign on for a CG superhero movie?
Well think Huckabees and of course Three Kings. Is that the kind of Director you envisage for the movie? Any other suggestions as to who Arad was referring to?
Rope of Silicon interviewed him and he was very coy on the matter:
As to the rumor that David O. Russell will be directing Silver Surfer he said, “That’s news to me.”
Oh, and by the way, he didn’t quosh the rumour of four Spidey villians.
Like with any film, especially this one, whoever is making it just better not screw up.
