James Doohan has passed away at the age of eighty-five. He was obviously famous for his role in the Star Trek series and movies, an absolute legend. Despite what people might say about not having the original cast in a Star Trek movie again, I think this it’s sad to think that the crew won’t be together again on screen.

Quoted as saying, when asked about the accent of his character, Doohan said:
“I believed the Scot voice was the most commanding.”
Damn straight Doohan, and it’s suited you, and the character, every since. He also once complained to his dentist that he was scared of being typecast, something that he couldn’t avoid once the Star Trek series was cancelled and became cult.
In 1973, he complained to his dentist, who advised him: “Jimmy, you’re going to be Scotty long after you’re dead. If I were you, I’d go with the flow.
“I took his advice and since then everything’s been just lovely.”

Scotty was always the star of the show in my mind. Between him and Leonard Nemoy, Shatner was nothing.
I think my favorite part with Scotty, was in the IV one where their beaming up whales into that Klingon ship… such priceless lines from the Scot. I will miss him…
who will “beam me up” now? :(
I have always been a huge Star Trek fan, and Scotty was one of my favorites. So sweet and gentle and funny, I shall miss him.

According to the link you supplied, Doohan was born in 1920, making him 85.
