The Bourne Ultimatum

I mildly enjoyed The Bourne Identity, and also enjoyed The Bourne Ultimatum (although I didn’t really thing either were great films). Matt Damon has both a fantastic charm and intensity when he needs them both on screen and he was enough to carry both films.

It won’t surprise any of us that the wheels have now been officially put into motion for the third installment of the franchise, The Bourne Ultimatum. The good folks over at Ananova give us this:

Tony Gilroy has been signed up by Universal Pictures to write the screenplay for The Bourne Ultimatum. Gilroy previously adapted Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy. Matt Damon already has expressed his interest at reprising his role as Jason Bourne reports Digitalspy.

Although not a HUGE fan of the first two films, I think this series has enough legs to it that it can continue to improve with a lot of upside potential. I’m looking forward to it.

  1. great great movies…my favourite ever….but i still dnt know how the hell the third movie is gonna pan out cos they killed off marie. Im not saying it was a bad thing…she was good in identity but she slowed down the plot to much to be kept in the second one. Im thinking another vendetta or something for damon to get stuck into

  2. I’m sorta grateful that I don’t remember the details of the books–I read them when I was 12/13–because I think that both released movies are two really good action movies. I’m almost sure though that they suffer in comparsion to the book (isn’t that always the case?).

I’m looking forward to the Ultimatum.

  3. I personally can’t wait for the third installment. In the meantime, I will have to be content trying to stay awake during the fifth airing Ocean’s 12 on pay to watch Matt charm the pants off of people. Yup, I’ve tried watching that flick 5 times and fallen asleep each time. Sad but true.
