Revenge of the Sith Sets More Box Office Records

Anakin_Eye.jpgI know all of us could predict that Revenge of the Sith was going to do VERY well at the box office this week… but even I didn’t think it would do THIS well.

Apparently Revenge of the Sith took in a healthy $158.5-million (U.S.) since its opening to shatter three-day and four-day box office records. Now to put that into perspective (What kind of perspective does $158.5 million need?) the former 3 day record holder was Spider-Man which made around $114.8-million in May, 2002… Revenge of the Sith made $124.7 million for it’s opening 3 days… beating the old record by about $10 million dollars!!! Holy Crap!

Also, internationally Revenge of the Sith has also done pretty well pulling in another $150 million. So George spent about $125 million of his own money to make Episode III… and got more than double that back in the first weekend. Wow.

I still don’t think it’ll beat the overall record that Titanic set… but don’t you worry… George will still be able to pay his bills and avoid living on the streets.

  2. News form the UK regarding Sith:

  3. John says, "I still dont think it will beat the over-all record that Titanic has set.l."

John, I find your lack of faith disturbing. -Darth Vader

  4. Box-office figures have nothing to do with art of cinema. Having said that, both Revenge of the Sith and Titanic are excellent movies in its own way. There is no point in comparing them.

  5. I was expecting about $120m tops for the 4 day period, so this number floored me this morning while I was listening to the news.

As far as it beating Titanic – it’s a tough goal, but damn it, the fans (and public) need to come together and make sure it happens!

Sorry…I just hate that over-hyped piece of crap movie. ;)
