Variety has confirmed that Jaimie Alexander is the latest addition to the Last Stand cast. Alexander has slowly, but steadily, become more of a name actress over the past several years, with a recurring role on Kyle XY and her brief, but memorable supporting turn as the lady warrior Sif in Thor…
Alexander will appear in Last Stand as female lead Sarah Torrance, a gorgeous cop who works under the command of Ray Owens (Schwarzenegger) – a disgraced ex-LAPD officer who now serves as sheriff of a small U.S.-Mexico border town called Sommerton Junction. Owens’ police squad includes Frank Martinez (Rodrigo Santoro) – who carries on a “playful” romance with Sarah – and another youthful cop, played by Zach Gilford (Friday Night Lights).

I like that this movie is moving forward but it’s hard to hold a firm opinion about a Governator project at this point. I’m slowly building up anticipation for this movie only to see if the script and the performance of the characters can help re-introduce the Governator to Hollywood in a beneficial way, but that will take a bit more time before we can play that game. I’ll keep an eye out for it but I’ll try to keep any excitement to a minimum.
