Freddy-KreugerHello International friends! We have arrived safe and sound in Los Angeles and I am glad to bring you fantastic news from the land of palm trees and sluts! It looks like the nefarious Freddy Kreuger may be slashing wayward teens in dreamland once again. We get the scoop today thanks to our friends at Bloody Disgusting:

We’ve been informed that New Line is actively developing another Nightmare on Elm Street movie. Everything you’ve heard before has been scrapped (prequel) and they’re back at square one. Ideas are being thrown around without anything solid locked down. Expect some news on this later this year.

I am glad that this film isn’t going to be prequel. I like having the origin story a bit of a mystery, it lets us fill in the blanks with our imaginations and adds to the creepy factor. I like seeing Freddy kill people with his bitchin’ claws and I want to see the sequel number climb even higher. Usually when a film series never ends, I start to get annoyed; but with classic slasher franchises like this – I want to see the numbers as high as possible. I hope I live long enough to see Nightmare On Elm Street 26.

Freddy is a son of a bitch pedophile that deserves every death he gets. We love to see him murder people, but always cheer at his defeat at the end of every film; and as much as we love to see him die; we eagerly await his return to kill again. We all sleep, have nightmares and can relate to those that are being stalked by kreuger in the dream world. He is a fantastic character and is beloved by fans of horror movies (for good reason).

We will continue to search out news about this project and make it available for all of you. 2007 was a great year for slasher action and the stage is set nicely for one of the genre’s kings to return. Elm Street is about to flood with blood anew! KRRRRRAKKKATHOOOOOM!

  3. first of all…i wanna say that im surprised theres a new NOES. ive grow up on it n watches my first one when i was 5…been a Freddy n horror film fan since…but the new Freddy…idk bout all that. Robert is and always will be the best Freddy.
    but i will give this movie a try n hope that it lives up to the others in the series.

  4. YYAAAYY !! i was almost 8 (i’m 15 now) when i first saw A nightmare On Elm Street.. Now i’ve saaw all of them and i own them too (even Freddy vs Jason)!!!!! I CAN’T WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE !!! I REEAAALLY hope that Robert Englund can play Freddy once again !

  5. The first Nightmare on Elm Street was awesome , and the second was good too but after that Freddy somehow lost his edge and became too jokingly to be a horror film. I can not wait till they come out with this one. I can not believe its been over 20 yrs boy that makes me feel old.

  8. This is just toooooo exciting, as long as Jackie can master the humorous Freddy, and the Frightening Freddy properly, we’re all good. I hope they go with something like the first 3 films, stick to basic human fears, with Freddy exagerating them in the most terrifying ways possible. I’m not interested in learning anymore of the history behind Kreuger, I just want some new fear-story-lines, and a whole lot of brutal murders…ahhhhh, this is a good thing, a very very good thing:)

I am soooooo against this “new” nightmare on elm st. jason and michael myers wear masks so anybody can do that, but nobody can deliver that slick ass sarcasm like robert englund. he is freddy, even without the makeup anywhere you see him, you know that’s freddy. i have been watching nightmare since i was 6, 28 now. it will be weird to see somebody else as freddy. it’s a down right travesty.

  15. What they should do is a prequel, just not with robert englund, do another holloween, and let it show how freddy was as a humna, what happened and his burning by the parents and the end with his saga against a couple teenagwers in their dreams, if they do it right , it could be classic

  16. Look I read half of these, and yes I agree with most. And I even agree with they need to leave it alone because Robert Englund doesn’t want to do it. One- Zombie isn’t gonna direct this kind of movie, plus he’s working on Halloween 2… Two- No one got pissed when Jason wasn’t gonna be Kane Hodder….. Granted it would great if Robert would do this role, but it ain’t gonna happen. The First Nightmare on Elm Street is the only one to fit the bill, the rest were cheap recreations that tryed to make a serial killer who didn’t care about anybody FUNNY…… LAME!!!!! This needs to happen and wether it be with Englund or not, it has to. Give it a NEW START. Let it be what it ORIGINALLY WAS MENT TO BE. Not what second and third rate directors came in and made him. Wes had an idea and other destroyed it, I’m glad he’s coming back to MAKE IT RIGHT. Yes he was on the last freddy movie but like some of you said that was just flat out stupid FREDDY in the REAL world….

    Main fact is no matter if Robert played this figure that we all have came to adore. He is our character, not Englund’s or hollywood’s. We are the ones who made him into what Freddy is and if it’s a new face or someone who resembles him so be it. This Movie will be great as long as they stick by the guide lines and make him darker than he was before, that was the point of this symbol anyways. An evil that invaded our dreams and there is nothing that we can do about it… Not who plays him and being funny while killing someone. Dark, sidistic, synical, twisted, gore, blood, imagination, vision, and one common goal, FREDDY IS COMING….

    Everyone talked shit about Heath Ledger playing Joker, well how’d that turn out. It don’t matter who plays Freddy though I would prefer Robert Englund. But it’s the charater I rather see not the man, the fear of when I was 5 years old be installed in me again at 28….. THE ORIGINAL FREDDY KRUGER!!! And have my kid watch it and feel the same way I did, and like this guy said have there be 28 sequels to it…. But DO NOT TAKE THE TURN that the orginal seris took which destroyed the Nightmare Legacy (in my eyes)

WHEN I FIRST SAW THESE NEW HORROR FILMS I WAS AMAZED AT THE IRONY “HE GET HIS VICTIMS THRU DREAMS” I WAS SO SHOCKED & COULDN’T WAIT TO SEE THE FILMS I LOVE THAT SHOCK & NOT KNOWING AT POINT THE MUSIC & SCREAMS WOULD MAKE ME JUMP. I’M SUCH A FAN OF HORROR MOVIES UNLIKE MY HUSBAND WHO’S LIKE HOW COULD U WATCH THAT EVIL STUFF. BUT OF COURSE I HAVE TO CUDDLE UP W/ HIM TO WATCH THEM.   21. Just like any other horror movie, a bad sequel will be a bad sequel. A sequel to Nightmare will do more to blemish the already tarnished history of the franchise than new nightmare already did. If it is going to be another Nightmare on elm street, it needs to be either really fresh or really classic, no in betweens. A great remake would serve to instill fear into a whole new generation of clueless young girls and help more than a few guys get laid because of it. I mean you talk to the avreage teenager these days and they, only partially at best, know the story of the man with knives for fingers but they all know the name so putting it out there once again will reel them in in droves. I, for one, loved the Rob Zombie tribute to Halloween and if they can do a quality remake like that for NoES, I am all for it. On the other hand, for those of us in the know, Freddy is dead, New nightmare made sure of that, so if it is not a reproduction then its gotta be a reinvention. I am not quite sure if Robert Englund will reprise the role but I have heard through the grape vine. At any rate, can’t wait to see what comes of it, just hope it doesn’t look like freddy got ahold of the script when they r through.

    1. New Nightmare was a solid flick. People are going to complain no matter what direction a sequel goes in. It was very creative to bring Freddy into the real world, because it gives him a new set of boundaries to work within and could’ve extended the series even further. Would you rather just another mindless slasher flick with a high body count and really cheesy Freddy one-liners? Haven’t we been forcefed enough of that? The Nightmare series can take a much darker turn if put in the right hands.

  22. First of all, I completely agree that Englund is Freddy but the problem is that he can’t resume the role. He’s gotten too old. It’s too much physical work. And secondly, this movie is supposed to be a remake so y not stick with the original story? Y ruin a classic by trying to make it “original”?

Robert Englund is Freddy Krueger… what are they going to do revamp the character that hackles and messes with his prey… Boo to that, and no reason to NOT take Englund, hes all for doing freddy last I heard. If they don’t pick Robert Englund as Freddy I won’t go watch it… its like Replacing Aragorn in the middle of the LotR series.. you just can’t do that. Sure with Retard jason and Retard Michael myers (weak) you can cause any dummy can put on a mask… but ONLY Robert Englund can Be Freddy Kreuger. Its his Role.

    1. if robert englund doesnt play freddy krueger. freddy would offically be dead. and the new one would be a flop due to no one playing him like he did.

    2. with all the new sFx they have. a new one with fresh ideas integrated into the dream masters already known gimmicks. would be great at this time. theres a lot of suspense movies, comming out and lets face it, freddy is the king of suspence and horror.

    he has more class than jason. and more personaity when killing his victims. that leather face and michael as well. its not the same ole, hack and slash like the other horror legends.

    dont get me wrong i love them all, but freddy is the man. so really in conclusion. with out englund there is no freddy. and without some freddy classic, meets some new stuff. theres no movie.

    i would like to see a twist at the end tho. maybe he actually wins this time and all the teens die. they should make his movies like it might be the last so they dont hold nothin back. and they keep using fresh great ideas.

  37. Nah….I feel that Wes can do it on his on. Although, I do agree with the fact that New Nightmare wasn’t the best. The ONLY reason I saw it was because that Heather Langenkamp was in it. I was pissed that they didn’t have the interior of the movie like the original or the sequels. I actually enjoyed some of the sequels. They need to bring back Heather Langekamp to reprise Nancy, or they bring back Lisa Wilcox to reprise Alice. How about bringing back the people that defeated Freddy or at least a few from ALL the movies and bring them together. Now that would be cool. Today’s special effects and how they’ve all gotten older. Screw the kids for nightmares, I don’t want another New Nightmare, just another one of those teenager films but more of an adult nightmare episode. No more Jason either, that pisses me off they link Nightmare with him. Just my opinion.

    house of 1000 corpse and devil rejects but how about wes and rob work on it togther now that would be a gore feast to watch in broad day light…

We’ve seen all the prequel stuff about Freddy in everything from Freddy’s Dead and Freddy’s Nightmares (which used to scare the crap outta me when i used to watch it) They need to make Freddy scarier than he was in the original (an that’s pretty scary) How bout he kills little kids in their dreams? That’ll be sick though and i dont think they’ll do that, but wouldnt that be something different and isnt that what Freddy used to do to begin with? Just an idea for something new. Can’t wait for the movie to come out! Freddy Rules!

    I would tottally be psyched to see rob zombie do a nightmare movie(R. Englund must be freddy tho no matter what) but i think rob would take it in a direction that made the first movie so good and what the rest lacked and that is making freddy scary when u watch him.i luv all the films ,new nightmare was the worst tho i think but at least frddy was scary again.i think zombie would make us more terrified of freddy than even wes could imagine but i believe he would respect the first film also.I thought halloween endin was perfect,shot to the head.dead

    1. this is for (international horror association) i do agree that robert and freddy go together like pb&j and it would be very awesome if he did it again, BUT look at the new movies they have remade from past 80s movies. ill take batman as an example. they were pretty cheesy movies right? now look at them! they are really good! more dark and kinda sinister! and non of them are the same actors! just like hills have eyes, and texas chainsaw, and amityville horro, etc….same movie/story different actors, but the new movie still kicked ass! so…..as much as i love robert as freddy…..im sure that (if with the right choice) then freddy can live again!!

I wouldn’t mind seeing a prequel but then again I would love to see Freddy continue from Wes’ New Nightmare…maybe a remake of the original but don’t let Micheal Bay touch it…the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was ok but I felt it didn’t meet my standards for a remake especially for Chainsaw…and let Wes Craven do the new Nightmare be it a prequel, remake or continuation! I enjoyed Rob Zombie’s touch up on the Halloween remake/prequel and I’m curious to see what he’d do for A Nightmare On Elm Street…but Freddy is Wes’ creation I think he should do up what’s in store for the New Nightmare movie…just my opinion!

    1. Making a new Freddy movie is a great idea but when u start screwing with the cast it’s not going to work! I have been watching these movies all my life and a couple of the sequels were not the best but i still got chills from Robert Englunds portrayal of Freddy. It just won’t be the same charisma having someone else as Freddy. There is only 1 true Freddy and that will always be Robert Englund!

    I really hope they don’t go with a remake. I can’t imagine how anybody could possibly play Freddy besides Robert Englund. I thought FREDDY VS. JASON was stupid fun and would like to see them figure out how to up the ante on that one, but a straight Freddy movie would be smarter because they wouldn’t have to deal with the ridiculous problem of figuring out how to make Freddy and Jason battle when they don’t even exist in the same place.

    Just don’t give it a number, and make it sort of a new beginning that is accessible to people that haven’t seen the other ones, but have Freddy already exist at the beginning of the movie. Get a director of Ronny Yu level or greater and let them put their own spin on it. I will miss all the latex but would like to see somebody clever do those old Elm Street dream sequences for the digital age.

    Also, please cancel the Michael Bay FRIDAY THE 13TH remake and if possible send Bay to an island somewhere where he can exclusively make his garbage for John Campea and send them directly to John’s computer but he is required by law to destroy the movies after watching them so that no other brains will be damaged by them. I think we all agree that this is the only sensible plan, thank you for your cooperation.

  48. I want to say first that Freddy Krueger is my personal favorite villain in movies. He has the ultimate power: invading dreams. Best of all (and important about his character) is that HE DOESN’T GIVE A FLYING FUCK ABOUT ANYONE! Sure, the sequels may suck, but they pretty much covered Freddy’s background as a child-killer before he continued in other’s nightmares.

    There is no need for a prequel, and I highy doubt how a remake would work. What works is sequels; to see him top his last kill. This is the guy who laughs when he kills kids. That sick motherfucker has the best use of resurrection: FEAR! Most important: Freddy can’t work without the man himself, Robert Englund. The guy is a good actor (look at Behind the Mask), but he gives Freddy life.

    On a final note: FREDDY SHOULD’VE, AND WILL, BEAT JASON! Because, “Every town has an Elm Street!” ‘Nuff said!

  51. Actually, Doug, there isn’t much of a mystery with Freddy. Some of Final Nightmare Freddy’s Dead had some of that, I think there was even a Freddys Nightmares ep that explored the origin. Elm Street 3 had the nun raping. (Lest we forget, Freddy was the son of 1,000 maniacs and a raped nun) …

    Now, the question is… what now.

    Here are the three canidates for this primary:

    1) Freddy vs Jason 2. Unlikely.

    2) A Nightmare on Elm Street 8

    or…and I’m even scared enough to think it….

    3) If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, holy shite another 80s horror icon recycled and rebooted/remade.

    I’m just saying…H’wood can be that predictable.

    New Line can top it off by remaking Man’s Best Friend too.
