Fast And Furious 4 With Diesel And Walker

Vin-Diesel-Ff4This is just hilarious. Reports are flying around this morning that Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are both in serious talks to appear in Fast and the Furious 4. Yeah… that franchise that Vin Diesel was too big of a star to appear in for the sequel… until I guess he realized his career hasn’t gone anywhere. Then Paul Walker talked some smack about old Vin regarding FF2:

Diesel didn’t want to do it because it’d mean he’d have to share the poster with someone else again. “Vin doesn’t want to do two-handers, he wants to go and be ‘Vin’”

But it dose now indeed look like a career stall has brought Vinny back to the table. The guys at Moviehole give us this:

I’m not at all surprised. Diesel’s commodity has been heavily cheapened over the past couple of years. He hasn’t had a hit to his name since “The Pacifier” – and that’s definitely not the type of film he should be doing; maybe after a couple of big action hits, but not straight out of the gate – and those big projects he’s wanted to do, like the biopic on Hannibal the Conqueror that he’s been tooting for years, can’t get financing. Quite simply, he isn’t the big star he – or his agent – thought he was.

There is a term I’ve been using lately. “Exposed”. It’s a term used more in sports. When a quarterback reveals a weakness that defenses can exploit, commentators say he’s been exposed. That’s what happened to Vin Diesel. In the midst of all the hype surrounding him a few years ago, people slowly started to realize THIS GUY CAN’T ACT. And as more and more people caught on to that reality, his career has dwindled.

Don’t get me wrong… Diesel isn’t totally horrible. As a matter of fact, he’s had a couple of shinning moments (he was actually pretty solid in Find Me Guilty), but ultimately, his talent just isn’t enough to equal the hype he once (and probably never will have again) had.

  1. The Rock smokes Vin Weasel in every sense of the word, but a part of me does want to see Walker and Weasel for FaTF 4, just to see what kind of fucked up title they’ll come up with this time. And admittedly, I liked the first one. That movie brings back hilarious memories from high school of guys souping up their cars and then totaling them trying to race. This one guy Josh wrapped his damn Corvette around a tree in front of an elementary school after seeing that damn movie. Thankfully nobody died, but looking back on it now, it’s so funny that so many stupid-ass guys worshipped that movie enough to risk death.

  2. yea darren…..paul walker does suck…..F&F 2 was horrible because the leads were paul walker and fuckin tyrese……i really wanted to see another riddick, before another fast and furious…..and for some odd reason I cant stop watching part 3….everytime it comes on i watch it…..oh vin cant really act….

  3. As Gio knows, I strongly, strongly, strongly disagree with him on this issue. I do think Diesel can act. But I also concede that he’s taken crap (xXx, Knockaround Guys, A Man Apart) …I also would rather see him in another Riddick film before I’d like to see him lead up another F&F.

I think he’s a far better actor than Paul Walker anyway.

  4. You know, Arnie wasn’t the greatest actor ever. And neither was Van Damme. Yet they all had their shots. Maybe it’s the fact that the 80s are over, but he would have probably been a pretty big star had it been his time back then. Either way, I think he’s pretty likable, certainly much better than many of these douche bags getting roles today.

  5. Give this guy a chance. Maybe he needs a good solid role? Maybe he can come back and be the bad ass that he wants to be? I liked him in Private Ryan and Iron Giant.
